not that you should expect anything more than rank idiocy from this pair of racists, but the idea that whiteness means a "high trust" society of "social cohesion" is some of the stupidest shit i have ever heard. these people live in a fantasy land that you could dispel by simply opening a book.

there are moral arguments against the death penalty in its ideal form but in real life you never need to get there. the prior question is "can the state be trusted to end the life only of the rightly convicted without torture?" and the answer is no

Unless it’s in some kind of insulated cup, iced drinks are messy! I’m not a big etiquette stickler or anything, but if you are making a little puddle on condensation all over someone else’s furniture, you are being rude. What if there aren’t coasters? It’s not a risk I would take in an interview.

even conceding the distorting effects of colorblind discourse post Cold War / apartheid, it's wild how committed people will be to applying this skepticism to periods of history where the commitment to white supremacy was completely explicit

I’m sorry, troop Brad Pitt and his troop dog fighting through the wilderness to learn lessons about loyalty, grit, and what it means to be a man (and/or dog and/or troop) feels like a parody of something. It’s like a movie somehow written by this t-shirt
An army green t-shirt with black print on it that says “ME WHEN SOMEONE TALKS SHIT ABOUT MY DOG…” above a line drawing of a cowboy holding a gun. A bullet appears to be flying from the gun, and black text around it says “BANG!!” and “BANG!!!”

There are some thinkers who, when I first encountered them, I thought “these are interesting ideas, but aren’t they a little silly? irrelevant to day-to-day life? Are these folks kinda up their own butts, maybe?” And those same thinkers now seem vital to understanding absolutely everything.

I have a substantial stash of yarn. It’s nice to have yarn on hand, but it’s a pain to store. I can’t reduce the stash though, because often I’ll start a stash project but find out that I don’t have enough to finish it. Then I have to buy more! And I use some and then stash the rest 🤦‍♀️

What’s the worst imaginable consequence of too zealously rejecting “race science”? Knowledge production is slowed because people are overly careful to avoid topics that have to do with race? The consequences of being too accepting of “race science” is literally genocide. Seems clear where to err!
