Depending on how quickly the Library of Congress implements yesterday's EO, both Super Intelligence and Lake America will propagate into the University of Virginia library catalog in about 10 days, unless we take precautions to create a bunch of local headings.

Three panel comic. Panel 1: two heavyset fellas sit around an unusual, scrawny humanoid alien at a diner counter. One of the guys pushes a little basket of bread in front of the alien and says, “this here is corn bread.” Panel 2: the alien takes a small bite of the golden corn bread. The alien says, “con… bred.” Panel 3: the alien begins to hover, emitting an otherworldly light and causing gravity to shift around its immediate vicinity. A frightened waitress behind the bar shouts, “what’s happening?!”

The Etruscan tumulus of Pisa, ca. 700 BCE. Carefully excavated in the 1990s, no remains were found in the central chamber, and is interpreted as a cenotaph. An iron trident was deposited above, and a horse was sacrificed on an altar on top, which was then dismantled and interred.
Vertical photo of an open grassy area, in the middle of which is a very wide (about 30 meter diameter) low tumulus, surrounded by a ring of standing slabs of schist. In the sky is the sun, causing a lens flare that curves upwards, mirroring the curve of the tumulus.

September is almost over and we didn’t post the statistics for August yet! Since the start of August, we added 3.9 million dated elements, more than doubling what we had before. That includes 1.6 million more buildings and 17,192¼ more railroad miles than we had before. #HockeyStick
Graph of OpenHistoricalMap coverage growth in number of dated elements along the Y axis by date accessed along the X axis. Steady linear growth from 1 million in May 2022 to 2.5 million in March 2026, followed by some spurts up to 3.5 million by July, then finally a spike in August and September up to 7.5 million.

New thread for the 2026/27 Athens theatre season. First show of the Autumn, Little Eyolf at the outdoor theatre of Kolonos (Colonus).
colour photo shows part of the stone circle of the performance area in a small neighbourhood amphitheatre. There’s a light on the edge, and some cabling. A piece of furniture stands upstage, a bit like a double potting bench, or maybe a shop display case. There’s a small conifer in a pot on it, and two stools just downstage.
