finished Legend of the Condor Heroes/射雕英雄传 and this does hold. i think the writing quality shows some of the dangers of serialization - much of it would not be out of place in a mid-quality battle shonen manga today

The best thing about "Darmok" is that the aliens are actually 100% able to speak in plain terms – they just refuse to do so because their culture regards it as humiliatingly undignified NOT to communicate exclusively in fucked up memes, and they're willing to risk an interstellar incident over this.
