My favourite 3 panels of Judge Dredd from the Judge Death Lives story - Wagner and Bolland at their best. The panels, the text and the speach lines "GAZE INTO THE FACE OF FEAR!" and "GAZE INTO THE FIST OF DREDD!" have stayed with me since I first saw them in 1981 #DayofDredd
Two panels of Judge Dredd art. Panels 1 shows Judge Dredd being held by a Dark Judge called Judge Fear who says "GAZE INTO THE FACE OF FEAR". The second panels shows Dredd with Fear's hands on either side of his helmet with the text above "FOR A MOMENT THE ICY CHILL OF TERROR COURSES DOWN DREDD'S SPINE. THE SHOCK OF THIS GAZE CAN KILL AN ORDINARY MAN-"A panels from the Judge Dredd story Judge Death Lives. The text reads "BUT DREDD IS A JUDGE - AND JUDGES ARE NOT ORDINARY MEN!"
Dredd is shown hitting Fear through the open visor and Dredd's fist exiting the back of Fear's helmet. Dredd says "GAZE INTO THE FIST OF DREDD!"

NASA picture of the day today is a real 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿beauty! This is a composite image of the ~5000yo Callanish Stones on the Isle of Lewis. The amazing Giuseppe Petricca has only gone and photographed the Sun at noon there, every few days, for a whole year. #Dedication 🔭🧪👌 ℹ️: science.nasa.gov/image-articl...
The imposing Callanish Stones stand talk with their shadows spanning out across the glass. It's a super clear sky, but looks cold. Above the central stone is a strange figure-of-8 shape of dots. This is the location of the Sun, at noon, on various different days across the year.

The GCSE in Natural History has been long brewing - and here are our thoughts on it. This qualification is especially pressing now, in the light of the climate catastrophe and a crisis of mental well-being among young people. Doing fieldwork and being closer to nature can only benefit society. 🧪🌏🍃

An impressive looking tree that's hanging on at Chapel Stile, Cumbria. I couldn't get close enough to identify it but I think it's an oak species. #ThickTrunkTuesday
A dying tree with inly a few branches with leaves on it sitting on a rocky outcrop in a field with a dry stone wall around the field. In the background on the left are a number of houses, some rendered and painted white, others bare stone and a church tower. To the right are trees in full leaf.

Ww had a potter from the village to the lake that both bear the name Elterwater. This is a view over the lake looking towards Harrison Stickle. My wife and daughter went up into the mountains yesterday and I'm gutted I can't join them but bones and joints won't let me 😬
In the foreground are rocks on the shore of a lake with reeds to the left and trees to the right. In the background are mountains, the nearest of which are below the clouds and the furthest summits are just in the clouds. Harrison Stickle is the lump in the clouds.

One of my favourite XTC songs ever. I love how the Skylarking album starts with Summer's Cauldron and segues into Grass. It's just a perfect couple of tracks that take me back to my summers in the late 80s and 90s. The rest of the album is great too.

Petition: Stop all developments on peatlands across Wales!
Peatlands in Wales provide important carbon storage, they store 30% of our land-based carbon. They are essential for our survival: healthy peatlands sequester more carbon than all the world's forests combined. They also provide crucial habitat for plants, animals, birds and insects, and help prevent flooding in the face of increasingly erratic weather. Peatland cannot be moved or recreated; once fragmented or destroyed it's lost.
