The much berated Rosa Rugosa for #Wildflowerhour It can be invasive, but the flowers smell divine and the #Seedheads are beautiful

Always nice to clock up a Vice-county first, especially when it’s as impressive as this! Dense-flowered Mullein (Verbascum densiflorum) has only ever been recorded five times in Wales so it was great to find it on rough ground at the edge of Rhosneigr, Ynys Môn (Anglesey) #Wildflowerhour

Fearing the worst, I was amazed to find record numbers of Field Gentian at Twyni Cymyran, Ynys Môn (Cymyran Dunes, Anglesey). Seems that spring was SO wet the dune slacks have held on to their moisture, despite the drought. There were thousands of plants @speciesrecovery.bsky.social #Wildflowerhour

Special access to survey The Skerries this week. Remarkably few species, the majority of cover being Sea Mayweed and Rock Sea-spurrey, with occasional Scarlet Pimpernel and a few Spear-leaved Orache. Fantastic experience especially with seeing the terribly cute Tern chicks. #Wildflowerhour #Anglesey

After 40 years of botany I finally became a rock-rose completist with these Spotted Rock-rose on Anglesey. A bonus Sphaerophoria scripta hoverfly joined in.I didn't recognise this as Spotted Rock-rose until I looked closely. The spots can be almost invisible to the untrained eye. #wildflowerhour
