What’s depressing about this is that we have so many good councillors with great vision in Oxfordshire, they just aren’t in #Didcot. Literally read these ideas and think why can’t we have them?

We don't tax fuel highly @mrjamesob.bsky.social - the fuel price escalator being effectively abandoned means that motorists pay nowhere near the full economic cost of their activity. They are, in effect, massively subsidised. Meanwhile public transport crumbles.

I am absolutely furious about this. How f'ing dare Labour pour fuel on the climate crisis and hand out more money to wealthier people? Keeping petrol prices artificially low is climate injustice writ large. Additional scorn for @libdems.org.uk who campaigned for this.

Want to support the travelling public? OK, but *has* to be equitable. So, where are the plans to reduce bus and train fares? Why not also provide bungs to pedestrians, and pay cyclists? Why just motorists?

I see a lot of posts about #cycling in Oxford, and how it’s so different to outer Oxfordshire (esp from @emilykerr36.bsky.social). Went to the East Oxford market earlier - knew it would be a hit when I saw the overspill of bikes there. Made me think it can happen. Even in #didcot #cyclinglife

I don’t have a lot of faith in TVP and their Road Traffic team. However, I was hugely pleased to see @matthewbarber.co.uk confirm that this took place in #Didcot. Road traffic violence / speeding is the biggest problem we have. Thank you Matthew & the team for taking this step.

Did you see the police piece about all the “new” officers for the Road traffic team? It’s just pitiful as they can fill the room, if the culture stays then we will to continue to not be safe out there.

There isn’t a chance I’d let my son cycle in Oxfordshire on the roads. Drivers are protected and our PCC takes delight posting on FB about the good work his officers do chasing cyclists for lights. We have no infrastructure either for cycling and our MP / Council don’t care.

The Health Secretary Wes Streeting says the decade's delay on building a GP surgery in Didcot's Great Western Park is 'completely shocking'. Unusually, he's leaning in to accelerate progress due to pressure from local MP Olly Glover, who he described as being 'like a dog with a bone' on the issue.

The only target for the number of people killed on the road should be zero. With its Road Safety Strategy, the Government has massively overlooked key actions to cut traffic and achieve safer and slower vehicle speeds, which are truly effective at saving lives and essential to reaching this goal.
