Sadly we ran out of time to debate the Green Group's motion on the EHRC Code of Practice and Trans Rights at last night's Oxford City Council meeting, but we did show solidarity with trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people across our city. More to follow. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 @oxfordgreenparty.bsky.social

Tonight, in Oxford Tommy Robinson and Laurence Fox addressed an empty chamber at almost midnight. This happened because Oxford residents, ordinary residents, showed up in their thousands to make clear that Oxford rejects the racist and divisive bile that Robinson and his ilk spread.

Oxford Greens reject racism and those who irresponsibly spread racism and violence must pay the price and foot the bill! We'll be standing strong today against the racism platformed (yet again) by Oxford's fascist-loving private members club.
The decision to extend an invitation to Tommy Robinson and Laurence Fox, especially in such close proximity to the racist pogroms we saw in Belfast and Southampton is shockingly irresponsible. If an elitist private members' club is determined to spread racism and fear in our city, it must foot the bill - we believe the Oxford Union should cover the entire cost of the security operation it is requiring.

We also demand that compensation be paid by the society to local businesses forced to board up their windows and close to protect their community because they fear the hatred and violence invited into our streets.

Oxford is a proudly diverse city and firmly rejects the fascists invited by the arrogant carelessness of this private members' club. We will be in the streets today in our hundreds to reject the dressing up of racism, fear, and division as worthwhile points of view and make it clear that Oxford firmly rejects fascism.

Oxford Green Councillor's statement on the EHRC's transphobic and deeply exclusionary guidance. We will fight to protect trans wellbeing and inclusion in Oxford 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️
We understand the EHRC code of practise will be a cause of anxiety and distress to Trans+ people in Oxford and the UK. Contrary to the government's claims, the Code of Practice does not deliver certainty and creates ongoing vulnerability for trans people in accessing services. We condemn the failure of the Labour Government to legislate to recognise the reality that trans men are men, trans women are women and non-binary people are non-binary, and protect their rights.

During recent post-election negotiations, one of the key concessions which Oxford City Green Councillors required from Labour in order to allow them to form a minority administration was an undertaking to protect trans people in service delivery following the publication of the Code of Practice.Oxford City Council delivers extensive services affected by the Code of Practice, from public toilets to leisure facilities. As a public authority, the Council has to comply with terms of the Equality Act, including adhering to the Code of Practice. However, there will need to be considerations of how the Code is practically applied, and our Green councillors will fight to ensure that the rights and welfare of Trans+ residents are centred in the council's approach.

As Greens, we are proud to be trans inclusive and we stand in solidarity with the trans community. We will fight to ensure these changes do the least possible harm to Oxford's trans population, and continue fighting for changes to the law that recognise and protect trans rights. - Lois Muddiman, Oxford City Green Group Leader

I am absolutely furious about this. How f'ing dare Labour pour fuel on the climate crisis and hand out more money to wealthier people? Keeping petrol prices artificially low is climate injustice writ large. Additional scorn for @libdems.org.uk who campaigned for this.

We've heard some parties are falsely pushing the tactical voting' line in order to scare people into voting for them - don't fall for it!! The numbers don't lie - Reform's performance across Oxford was poor last May, and their polling has declined slightly since then.
Bar chart showing 2025 local election results in Oxford Divisions. Reform came 5th. Despite what Labour may say, Reform don't stand a chance in Oxford - there is no need to vote tactically to stop them.
