Reinterpretation on a shoestring: In the Aftermath: Angels Never Sleep (1988). Mamoru Oshii's Angel's Egg (1985) was a commercial failure, and became prime fodder for New World Pictures. NWP picked up the American distribution rights, cutting 'n' splicing it with post-apocalyptic live action.

The movie poster for In the Aftermath, with a guy in a gas mask and ragged jumpsuit. He's holding an egg with a toxic symbol on it.

A snap of the original animated movie with a small girl with long white hair and a tall tanned guy with short white hair and a ponytail.

One of the live action scenes with two gasmasked guys looking at an egg amid industrial wreckage.

A scene from the movie with an egg being held out to the young girl.
