today's hardware designers could never conceive of what Kazuo Kawasaki was doing in 1996

Fare thee well, Gizmoplex. You were a financial misadventure that failed to self-sufficiently secure future seasons of MST3K, but damn it, you were *our* financial misadventure that failed to self-sufficiently secure future seasons of MST3K.
An illustration of the Gizmoplex, a domed movie theater structure that MST3K described as "the first cineplex on the moon."

The marquee says it's MST3K Tribute Week, complete with screenings of Manos, Future War, and Hobgoblins.

I miss the damn thing already. The Gizmoplex was buggy and stupid and mostly didn’t work and it never took off into being what was envisioned/promised But for all of us who poured our hearts and souls and guts into it we found a shared joy that only MSTies know Keep circulating the tapes #MST3K

And you know what's crazy? This stuff looks astronomically huge to us but it's possible that 46.5 billion light years could be the size of a penny to something or someone else that's outside of our universe.

even if that isn’t true and i’m just particularly fond of it for personal reasons, idk, it just holds a special place in my heart. and then i went and wrote like 50 more shorts and i think that has been responsible for like 80% of my burnout recovery on the job side of things at this point lol

i wrote and drew this one before i decided to take a real swing at pip and gunko as a big boy webcomic, so it isn’t up on the site yet and won’t be for a while, but regardless! i drew it while dragging myself out of the lowest point of burnout and i think it’s one of the best comics i’ve done so far

From SESAME STREET's 9th season, Grover duets with Madeline Kahn on "Sing After Me". While watching, consider the awkward positioning necessary to hide Frank Oz in the framing of the opening shot...

It ends w/ Belafonte consoling Fozzie & a performance of "Turn The World Around". The message, & its resonance, remains undiminished... “Do you know who I am Do I know who you are See we one another clearly Do we know who we are” Belafonte would later perform this song at Jim Henson’s funeral.

1941 is the IT’S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD of the 1970s. I have many thoughts on Steven Spielberg’s epically bombastic, overstuffed kitchen sink comedy - as anyone who’s asked me about it will attest. It’s an exquisite failure, deeply flawed, but w/ beautiful cinematography & a glorious score.

28 lbs of cat + 1 blanket + 1 waterproof pad = warm enough Amy. Also, this is the 2nd time Susan & Sweetie have lain next to each other, touching no less! Still not friends, but an amazing improvement in relations. Especially considering that Leopold is present which is a trigger for Sweetie’s rage.

a huge part of the problem is that people seem to genuinely believe that administrative tasks don't take "actual brainpower", skill, context, or emotional intelligence. when we start to see everyday communication - even repetitive, "tedious" stuff like this - as inherently automatable, we're cooked
