Spent 5 hours rewriting the same two emails over & over, while obsessing over an earlier email where I’d somehow written the same phrase 3 times in two short sentences without realising until after I’d sent it. Is this anxiety, ADHD (maybe that GP I saw 8 yrs ago was right?!), or am I just weird? 🤔

I agree with this. Everyone experienced it and we have not processed it. As well as personal trauma (my dad’s wake limited to 15) The lack of care, the blatant profiteering, the mismanagement was an enormous reminder that our lives are cheap in the face of keeping the capitalist machine rolling.

No tragedy should be exploited to justify racist violence. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home and neighbourhood. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by Monday's horrific stabbing, and with the migrant, refugee and minoritised communities targeted by the subsequent violence in Belfast.
The statement reads: The horrific stabbing in Belfast on Monday is being used as an excuse for racist violence. Migrants, refugees, people of colour and their neighbours were terrorised in their homes and communities last night. Homes were burned down. Leadership must step up now and defend the right to a safe home that we all need.

Many politicians and media outlets have learned nothing from the last two summers of violence. They shouldn’t be surprised that it is happening again. Calling such attacks "protests" legitimises those responsible and obscures the harm being done to entire communities.

This must stop now. We urgently need political and moral leadership that stands up for people seeking safety - and all migrant and minoritised communities – by rejecting the far-right politics of hate that exploits tragedies to demonise and attack communities.

The scenes in Belfast last night were disgraceful. Families were targeted because of their skin colour or country of origin, leaving people frightened, homeless and fearing for their safety. The actions of one individual must never be used to stigmatise an entire community, nationality or faith.
An image of a road with a car on fire. Copy that reads: This is the third summer in a row that Northern Ireland has experienced organised racist violence - with each outbreak more serious than the last.

Sometimes I feel like I’m losing the plot. Peaceful protests against genocide are branded ‘hate marches’, yet masked men engaging in violent disorder & setting buildings on fire are apparently ‘not extremists’. They're just ‘expressing their fears’. 🤯 Quote from Farage

Under Starmer Labour has continued attacks on basic rights, especially for trans and non-binary individuals, and making it harder for LGBTQIA+ people to seek asylum. rainbowmap.ilga-europe.org/countries/un...

As is now painfully obvious, political centrism (government by neoliberal technocrats) is in its final death throes. The only beneficiary of their demise is the racist, nativist, xenophobic, idiot-right. The only viable alternative to the catastrophe of their rise is an avowedly antifascist left.

I’m not sure there is a bleaker - or older - phenomenon in politics than desperate voters turning to charlatans and bigots for change. Reform councillors will do nothing to help someone’s elderly Mum get social care or keep the local library open for kids. And Farage is laughing his arse off.
