Happy 25th of December, everyone! ✨♥️ We’ve made it to the final day of the advent calendar, and I have been waiting with bated breath to bring you both this door – and the surprise behind it! archiveofourown.org/collections/... A gift from me to you 🥰 #OFMDadventCalendar #OFMD #OurFlagMeansDeath

Digitally altered production still of Ed and Stede from episode 8 of season 2 of Our Flag Means Death.

It’s a still from LuPete’s wedding, where Stede is looking misty eyed at the happy couple and Ed is glancing over at Stede.

The image has been digitally altered by drawing a shiny top hat on Stede’s head, and a veil with a crown made of snow flakes on Ed’s head. There’s a heart drawn between their faces, and snow flakes of varying sizes added everywhere but their faces, the veil and the heart between them ♥️

Day 17: Hardest episode to pull a quote from. Stede comes off snobby here, and I can see him complaining to his journal about it. He's a captain, and this must feel like a demotion to him. I didn't get a good photo of the map I printed (with tatty edges) but I used the one from the auction #OFMDSAC

A downloaded photo from the Heritage Auction site with two versions of Stede's map he drew, trying to triangulate Ed's location in relation to his crimes. Both have an aged look to them and tatty edges and creases where they have been folded and refolded multiple times.

The one on the left has general geographic locations, and the right has romantic lines of poetry and a sketched portrait of Ed in one corner.

Day 16: I've always loved the fated randomness (random fatedness?) of the message in bottle concept, so this scene is really meaningful to me. I Jenkins-ed the scroll inside the bottle (it's actually permanent ink from the finale), but I included all 3 versions... #OFMDSAC 1/2

A drawer of an advent calendar has been removed from the main calendar for a close-up. A small wooden number 16 that is painted gold is on the upper right corner. The faux aged paper is colored tan and the following phrase is printed in black toner:

"I know the odds of this finding you are slim, but so were the odds of us finding each other in the first place."

A small glass bottle with a cork lid is nestled in a square of cotton inside a black square jewelry box. It has a loop of twine at the top and an ornament hook on the side. Inside is a rolled up scroll tied with twine. Next to it are three additional scrolls in slightly different sizes also tied with twine.

One of the scrolls is unfurled and reads

"I think of you... often. Hope you're thinking of me as well.

I know the odds of this finding you are slim. But so were the odds of us finding each other in the first place.

Wish I could be better. Yours in love and death and beauty and silence.

Happy 13th of December ✨ – also known to Scandinavians as ‘Saint Lucia’s Day’ 🕯️🕯️🕯️ Behind today’s door you’ll find a wonderful piece of art by our very own @kuuttamo.bsky.social 😍 archiveofourown.org/collections/... #OFMDadventCalendar #OFMD #OurFlagMeansDeath #SanktLucia #SaintLuciasDay

Digitally altered production still of Ed ‘Blackbeard’ Teach from episode 10 of season 1 of Our Flag Means Death (he is in the ‘depression robe’ sanding on the deck with his hands folded, after he has sung his “Just Let Go”-song, and he is looking very angelic).

The image has been digitally altered by drawing a Saint Lucia’s crown on top of his head. The Saint Lucia’s crown is often made from either pine or lingonberry sprigs.

The crown is worn by the young girl crowned ‘Lucia Bride’ or ‘Lucia Maiden’ and this person leads the Saint Lucia’s Day procession.

In this image the crown has been drawn to resemble pine sprigs. Atop the crown is affixed four live candles. (It varies how many candles are atop the crown – in Denmark it’s usually four, but in other Scandinavian countries (esps. Sweden) it is as much as 7 candles.)

Handwritten text at the bottom of the picture reads: “THE 13TH DOOR” and then underneath that is added: “Saint Lucia’s Day”.

Day 11: Foot touch! Foot touch! Such a key moment in OFMD and in Ed and Stede's relationship, it was obligatory to include it. And I'm pretty sure Stede would want to memory-hole the rest of episode 8: 😴💥🤠☕🔥➰💎💎🦀🐢📏🥥🛌📖➰🕊😭😡👉🚣‍♂️😢🔭🏖💔🏸🚢 #OFMDSAC (Sorry I had to use Lee's photo since mine is blurry) 1/2

A drawer of an advent calendar has been removed from the main calendar for a close-up. A small wooden number 11 that is painted gold is on the upper right corner. The faux aged paper is colored tan and the following phrase is printed in black toner:

"You came back.
Never left."

A round vinyl sticker shows a piece of embroidery. It depicts a foot in a black leather boot reaching out to touch another foot in a white stocking and heeled 18th-century style shoe.

Happy 12th of December! ✨🥰 Behind today’s door hides a wonderful, pencil-drawn piece of art from @intheblanketfort.bsky.social 🙌 — please go shower them with love for it! 😍 “Ed Keeps Watch on a Snowy Evening”: archiveofourown.org/works/60967537 #OFMDadventCalendar #OFMD #OurFlagMeansDeath

Digitally altered image of Ed and Stede from episode 6 (‘Calypso’s Birthday’) of season 2 of Our Flag Means Death.

Ed is looking enthusiastically at Archie (who is off screen here) while saying something. Stede is looking at Ed with rapt attention and wide eyes. There’s a soft glow on both of them, from the natural lights used in the scene.

The photo has been digitally altered (by TillyChMo) by drawing Santa hats on both their heads.

Handwritten text at the bottom of the image reads: “THE 12TH DOOR”.

Day 10: Rhys' delivery is just such a joy! I just had to spell it that way. Adventures are important to Stede, and he didn't want to Ed to drift away if their days were becoming too monotonous on the ship. He wanted the day to be memorable, and I think he succeeded. #OFMDSAC 1/2

"We're gonna have an extremely fun, memorable, deeply cool advincha!"

A small pinback-style pin with a white background and a black pirate ship that reads: "Blackbeard's Bar & Grill" in black print under the ship. In a semi-circle above the ship, it continues on: "Delicacies and Delights and Fishing Equipment"

Happy 11th of December! ✨🥰 Behind today’s door hides a beautiful piece of art by @cufeilidh.bsky.social – Stepdad Ed, Christmas tree, & Tim Horton’s … what more could you want? 😍 archiveofourown.org/works/61233538 #OFMDadventCalendar #OFMD #OurFlagMeansDeath

Digitally altered still photo of Oluwande and Auntie from episode 8 of Season 2 of Our Flag Means Death – from when they’re in the woods, making ready to attack the British. Auntie is in the foreground, and it looks like she’s holding branches back while crouching a little. Her eyes are firmly locked on something off screen.

Oluwande is standing behind her. His hands are down by his side (right hand holding a riffle). He looks fairly stunned at whatever is going on off screen.

The photo has been digitally altered (by TillyChMo) by drawing Santa hats on both their heads.

Handwritten text at the bottom of the picture reads: “THE 11TH DOOR”.

Day 9: The golden hour, sailing at sunset, twined ankles and kicky feet, laughing and regaling the legendary Blackbeard with your shark tales... I mashed-up the beginning montage and quoted scene since I think Stede wouldn't want to remember the dark bathtub confessional too long. #OFMDSAC 1/2

A drawer of an advent calendar has been removed from the main calendar for a close-up. A small wooden number 9 that is painted gold is on the upper right corner. The faux aged paper is colored tan and the following phrase is printed in black toner:

"I'm your friend."

A round pinback-style pin shows a painting of the pirate ship "The Revenge." The lighting is gorgeous with the clouds painted with sepia, orange, and tan tones and the ship and water in darker browns.

Digitally altered still photo of Ed ‘Blackbeard’ Teach from episode 6 of season 1 of Our Flag Means Death (it’s from the “run me through”-scene, where Ed is showing his belly to Stede).

Ed has his hands on his hips, leaning back so his crop top is rising up, showing his soft belly. Ed is staring directly at Stede just off camera.

The image has been digitally altered (by @tillychmo) by drawing a Santa hat on his head.

Handwritten text at the bottom of the image reads: “THE 10TH DOOR”.
