Ed prized himself off the wall and stood next to Stede to see what he was looking at. He couldn’t see anything, but Stede had already gotten out his inflatable flashlight and was blowing it up at top speed.

“Look at these scratches, Ed!” he said excitedly, once the faint glow hit the rock. “Don’t you think they look like they could have been made by a creature with huge hand-shaped paws clawing at the wall?”
