talking about vertebrates like how people talk about invertebrates: I saw a blue jay today! This beautiful bird is native to North America. While its bite is painful, it is nonvenomous & harmless to humans. Unlike most tetrapods, the gray squirrel broods its young internally and gives live birth!

thanks google, nailed it
I have done a quick google search for the moth genus Meessia, which google has helpfully autocorrected to "messiah" and delivered THOSE search results WITH a helpful AI summaryOur lord and savior Meessia (a genus of tineoid moth)GBIF informs us that Meessia has been synonymized with the genus Eudarcia, leaving the family Meessiidae without a valid type genus (and frankly too many double letters for my taste)

Fair question! I use the periods to avoid slandering the Alberts, Albertos, and Alfredos of the world. I use a lower case "i" to devalue the industry's claim of "intelligence," because "A.i." is not sentient. And I add the quotes because the whole thing is an inaccurate, bogus marketing term.

What is this abomination? Since yesterday, everybody has been poking fun at a post asking genAI skeptics if they would really be willing to give up that technology. Just look at this. The answer is obvious. I'd be buying champagne and fireworks if garbage like this went away tomorrow.
Screenshot of an AI assistant for writing a personal message on electronic farewell or celebration cards, which defeats the purpose of personal messages. It asks to construct a prompt consisting of the occasion, the relationship the user has with the recipient, the tone (funny, formal, inspirational, etc.), and what style to plagiarise ("e.g., Yoda or Dr. Seuss). This egregious waste of electricity could mostly be replaced with a randomised selection of stock phrases. More importantly, if I were ever to receive such an electronic card, I would prefer somebody writing a single misspelled sentence themselves over generating this kind of slop.

On the right is what looks like a chat with one alleged message reading "Hi there Welcome to... by Jess". Puzzlingly, the mystery message perennially claims to be one day old regardless of what day I logged in, and there is no context for who or what Jess is. Maybe it is just me, but the entire interface screams fraud.

John Lewis had John Roberts' number from the jump: takebackthecourt.substack.com/p/john-lewis...
Take Back the Court REP. JOHN LEWIS: In 1965, Jurist Roberts was only 10-years-old. He may be a brilliant lawyer, but I wonder whether he can really understand the depth of what it took to get the Voting Rights Act passed. The right to vote is precious, almost
sacred. It is the most powerful non-violent tool we have in a democratic society. As many of you know, I gave a little blood on the Edmund Pettus Bridge, but some
of my friends and colleagues gave all they had, their very lives for the right to vote. I feel that if Judge Roberts is confirmed to be the Chief Justice of the United States, the Supreme Court would no longer hear the people's cries for justice. I feel that the leadership of the Court will promote politics over the protection of individual rights and liberties. If the Federal Courts had abandoned us in the civil rights movement in the name of judicial restraint, we might still be struggling with the
burden of legal segregation in America today. Jurist Roberts's memos reveal him to be hostile towards civil rights, affirmative action and the Voting Rights Act. He has even said that Voting Rights Act
violations, and I quote, "should not be made too easy to prove.'
