It had to be a mistake, but today, September 27, I saw a Chicago city bus whose manifest read “SEASONS GREETINGS” with images of Santa in his sleigh, reindeer, and candy canes.

A lot has been made of Elizabeth Holmes’s admittedly unusual speaking voice, but watching the trailer for the upcoming Lance Oppenheimer doc about her I found Nathan Fielder’s voice so insufferably unlistenable that if I don’t watch the movie it will be because of him. His voice is worse than hers.

Clavicular sits around like this? Has he ever heard of wearing pants that fucking fit? These look like his aunt’s capri pants.
An idiot whose pants hike up so high when he sits down the entirety of his tall socks are shown and then several inches of exposed skin are shown above that. It looks like he’s wearing a woman’s capri pants, and he’s supposed to be the bastion of masculinity.

For 33 years, McConnell has voted against family and medical leave for working Americans. Then he disappears from the Senate for 92 days and keeps collecting his full paycheck. Apparently, paid leave is only a problem when someone else gets it.

Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journals
God, it was good to let go, let the tight mask fall off, and the bewildered, chaotic fragments pour out.
It was the purge, the catharsis.

Happy 72nd Birthday to Ruby Bridges, who at the age of 6 desegregated the New Orleans public schools. She’s younger than 30 senators and our last two presidents—and only 7 years older than Barack Obama. The past isn’t past.

It’s finally occurred to me after watching umpteen dozen of her films that Isabelle Huppert may be my favorite actor. She could be in a student film washing dishes in silence and it would be worthwhile.

Fell asleep watching a movie; had intricate dream that the player kept spitting out the Blu-ray so I left and checked into a hotel to see if the room had a player the disc would work in. Rained & had traffic problems on way. Woke up in real life, movie was still playing, and I’d missed 30 minutes.

This iconic 1971 photo of Gloria Steinem and Dorothy Pitman Hughes has always said so much without saying a word. Two women. Two raised fists. One shared fight for equality. Dorothy passed in 2022. Now Gloria is gone too. Two giants who helped change America. Rest in power, Gloria. ✊🏼✊🏾

The feminist movement was never a threat to men. Secure men have always understood that. They stood beside women, fought for equality, and some proudly called themselves feminists too. If women having equal power feels like oppression to you, feminism isn’t the problem.

Gloria Steinem died with fewer rights than she had during her lifetime. That fact needs to be front and centre of every media report, every dedication, every discussion of her death.

If Time magazine still existed in print and had guts, just imagine—they could do a take-off of their famed, revolutionary 1966 cover reading “Is God Dead?” with the same font, design, etc., this time reading “Is Mitch Dead?”
