Imagine being Jerry Siegel in 1987 and seeing that the character you created in the Depression as the Champion of the Oppressed is now “Super Republican” because Reagan “got us to wave the flag again” and Superman basically wears the flag according to this guy John Byrne

it's good to see this laid out clearly, but i'm once again going to point to Peter Naur's 1985 essay "Programming as Theory Building"
The present discussion is a contribution to the understanding of what programming is. It suggests that programming properly should be regarded as an activity by which the programmers form or achieve a certain kind of insight, a theory, of the matters at hand. This suggestion is in contrast to what appears to be a more common notion, that programming should be regarded as a production of a program and certain other texts.

Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...
A casual Star Wars alien fella at the cantina, in a sun faded, reddish photo. Someone will be mad at me for not knowing who this is. Phil, a balding Caucasian man, poses a model of the garthok, an antagonist from the Coneheads movie.Phil, a balding caucasian man, points at some CG on a CRT computer monitor, as a younger man looks on. The screen shows a model of a dinosaur attacking a jeep, while there's an actual physical model of that event in the foreground for reference.an isolated shot of a star wars vehicle. Sorry, I don't know star wars lol

If it's the Ollie North story, that was included in Vol 3 of the Complete Steve Gerber Man Thing collection they put out in 2021. That also includes the Infernal Man-Thing posthumous release.

That’s how Takahashi structured her series. Every time she ran out of stuff to do she’d invent a new character and have them be the focus until she ran out of ideas for them, repeating the cycle until she winds down the series. I just didn’t want to endure that cycle with him.

90s Nexus still tries to do the big superhero stuff, but Baron starts putting stuff like this in more and more. "Females Are Born to Breed," my god.
A panel from the comic Nexus, where two women are talking. The first line is Femals are Born to Breed. Nothing else in the panel matters, because FUCK THAT.

On the plus side that gets you through most of Rude's work on the title. As much as I love Paul Smith, who follows him, Baron isn't interesting enough to sit through for Smith.

Nice to have a citation for the stuff we all sort of assume to be true but question if it's just our own biases making it look that way
Screenshot from the article in the quoted post, saying "Piff and his colleagues found that upper-class drivers were more likely to cut other cars off at junctions and ignore pedestrians at crossings. Wealthier people also appeared more willing to lie at work. In one experiment, volunteers were left alone with a jar of sweets ostensibly meant for children. When the researchers returned, upper-class people had snaffled nearly twice as many candies as lower-class people.

“The general pattern seems to be that with wealth and rising power, you become less engaged with the needs of others and less burdened by the needs of social relationships,” Piff said. “Taking candy from children might be the least of our worries but it’s emblematic of the tendency to prioritise one’s own needs over those of others.”
