🧵 As front-page headlines go, this has to be one of the most misleading I've seen in a long time It's an out-and-out lie But notice the trick they use to get away with it...👀 *They're* not lying - they're just quoting someone else who is👍🏻 In this case, the leader of the opposition🙄 1/33

Thinking of/with antiwar activist A. J. Muste:

Once a reporter asked him, "Do you really think you are going to change the policies of this country by standing out here alone at night in front of the White House with a candle?" A.J. Muste replied softly: "Oh I don't do this to change the country. I do this so the country won't change me.

This is unfair to Starmer, whatever people think of him, when it came to major incidents like this (Southport riots, Synagogue Murder etc), he put his neck out and took a position on it right away, no matter who it might upset and got hammered by the press on it. Burnham has been completely MIA.

In what conceivable sense is empathy for people with disabilities “suicidal”? Contributing to social security spending through taxation is not going to kill you or destroy society. Being the kind of person whose lack of empathy means being outraged at having to help others just makes you a sociopath
