New Curia poll which appears to have asked which party you trust not to raise taxes. I wonder why they resigned from the Research Association of NZ. It's more in line with Roy Morgan than other polls as well. Interesting.

Definitely favoured Luxon. Allowed Luxon to babble on about the supermarkets, but gave Hipkins no time on that - he changed the topic. Tame also actually helped Luxon out at one stage when he got muddled.

I got an extra $2.30 per fortnight. Food, transport, rates, water, power, vehicle costs, medical & dental expenses all skyrocketed - total costs are up by at least $200 a fortnight. Pensioner, but have had to go back to work at the age of 77. And I'm one of the luckier ones. Kick them out!

Nicola’s ferries won’t arrive until 2029, if ever. IREX would’ve been sailing by now and cost less that just one of National’s new RONs, that they now also can’t build. You only have a few weeks left to enrol. If you aren’t enrolled, your vote is like Nicola’s ferries. non-existent. #nzpol

Along with others, I've had a bit to say about Simeon Brown's deranged 2024 Transport GPS. But this is actually shocking. It was altered *after the consultation period* to make the books look better – in a way that wrecks the National Land Transport Fund. www.greaterauckland.org.nz/2026/09/29/t...

Penk is right - I've just started reading my next book and the first sentence starts with the word "There". That told me straight away the book was fiction, so I don't actually have to read it in order to have an opinion about it. #Penk-Logic

It's okay everyone! Chief ass-coverer Audrey Young has decided Luxon was only saying "cry me a river" to Hipkins, not about the subject Hipkins was talking about. Because it's not like Luxon has a history of openly not caring about ordinary Kiwis... oh wait I'm hearing he has a long history of it
Audrey Young, NZ Herald: "Luxon’s sarcastic boo-hoo response, “cry me a river”, was clearly aimed at Hipkins, but Labour has decided that two can play the “bull****” game and is depicting it as Luxon’s attitude to ordinary Kiwis.

This is what went down in Parliament.

Hipkins: “When real wages have fallen, power prices have gone up, insurance prices have gone up, rates have gone up, insurance has gone up – all by more than 20%, under his leadership, in just the last two years – will he now admit that the cost-of-living crisis is not only not over; it’s getting worse under his leadership?”

Luxon: “What I’d say, again – you know, cry me a river”.

This is how that exchange ended up in Hipkins’ speech: “You can choose a Prime Minister who will fight to get your costs down. Or a Prime Minister whose response to rising prices was ‘cry me a river’. "

That was their 'point of difference' when they first opened, back in the 80s I think. They said that, by getting customers to pack their own groceries, they'd be able to offer cheaper prices. That's why they chose that name.
