Per most recent figures, net migration to NI *over the past 22 years* has been ~62,000 people. Only 3% of Northern Ireland’s population currently belong to an ethnic minority. Pogroms in Belfast (as with Ballymena last year) are just gutter-level "One Is One Too Many" racism, and nothing else.

Many women have been horrifically killed here in the past 5 years, including at least 7 who were stabbed multiple times, and their deaths did not receive statements from the PM, debates in the commons, or global news coverage. Nor were there any riots, or condemnations of cultures by politicians.

Southampton is a city that has had real problems with racial violence and racist division in the past, but because of this it also has a strong and proud tradition of anti-racist activism. The community will drive this scum out of the city like they chased out Mosley in 1937.

I loved Marina Zucchelli’s novel Latte about the relationship between a wealthy new mother and the wet nurse she employed in late 1950s Bologna. Such a fascinating exploration of maternity, class and power, I hope it will be translated so I can recommend it to more people

The US Holocaust Museum being more outraged by Tim Walz saying that, like Anne Frank, children today are in hiding from armed agents of the state, than they are about the fact that children are in hiding from armed agents of the state, is why Holocaust remembrance culture is in crisis.
Tweet from the US Holocaust Memorial Museum: "Anne Frank was targeted and murdered solely because she was Jewish. Leaders making false equivalencies to her experience for political purposes is never acceptable. Despite tensions in Minneapolis, exploiting the Holocaust is deeply offensive, especially as antisemitism surges."

Significant harms were raised in the Lords yesterday that do not uniquely apply to people under 16 Then you have this from Kemi 🤦‍♂️ There are incredibly dark and damaging dangers online and this goes much wider than young people The idea that a hard-start at 16 will fix this is for the birds
Text from an article in the Guardian by Kemi Badenoch

“By restricting social media use for children, we aren’t just protecting children. We can also give more freedoms to adults online. We will no longer need to contort digital spaces to be universally “child-friendly”, or impose blanket restrictions on speech and content because children might see it. If we stop treating children like adults, we can stop treating adults like children too.”
