This is a cruel aspect of migrant landings in Italy rarely covered. Eager to look tough authorities arrest people & charge them with commanding boats (iow human trafficking) on flimsy evidence. Often traffickers abandon boats & someone steers to avoid disaster. They risk up to 30 years in prison.

Italian oil company ENI, in which the state owns 30% of shares, has announced that from Monday 28th September fuel prices at its service stations will be capped at €1.99 per litre for petrol and €2.19 per litre for diesel for 30 days. Any extension will depend on market & supply conditions.

I am used to terrifying stories of human trauma from the central Med migratory route but very rarely there is such a level of close aggressive contact between locals and migrants. This is despicable and cruel and it should never be tolerated.
