Agree with you on the wrong of a death penalty, never mind the botched execution. This particular case seems like a seriously unfair judgement, given the early life background. However I don’t know enough about that to think whether the decision to penalise was in any way right or wrong.

I’m perplexed that funding a pay increase for public sector workers (and it’s consequent lead for pay generally) is seen as priority v investment in for e.g. wildlife protection, building insulation, food and other security, and especially the obvious need to rapidly reduce our fossil fuel exposure.
