Agree, the fact the tories are only around 20% now, when they were at 26% when Badenoch took over doesn't strike me as good news for them Still never interrupt your enemy when they're making a mistake

I think the PM getting public to consider the pros + cons of all potential options from late 2026 for the next 12-18 months is a much better approach than "the only option he should consider is EU membership" (including for those who would aim for that destination of membership within 5-10 years)

Luxury retailers want taxpayers to fund a 20% tax break for foreign tourists. They paid consultancy Cebr to claim this will raise £2.6bn for the UK. That convinced Sadiq Khan and Kemi Badenoch. But it's false: a free lunch. Four basic errors mask a £600m loss. Thread:

But if you go further back London property prices have grown significantly more than the rest of the UK In 1969, the average London house price was only around 1.3 times the UK average, it's now around twice. What's happening now seems more a rebalancing www.savills.co.uk/blog/article...

Lots of publicity around an article that claimed VAT-free shopping for tourists would pay for itself. Turns out, like many things too good to be true, it wasn't . Instead of a£2.6bn gain, it would result in a £600m loss to the Exchequer Excellent work from TPA taxpolicy.org.uk/2026/09/28/v...
