REMINDER: Global heat waves are FOSSIL FUEL‑driven climate chaos. Recent research shows that warming linked to the world’s biggest oil and gas companies has made EVERY major 21st‑century heatwave more intense and more frequent.

Everyone immediately assuming that an attempt on the President is staged is probably not a sign of a healthy democracy.

Almost everything we argue about is a substitute for the thing we should be arguing about: the immense wealth & power of an oligarchic class, which captures governments, ruins lives and wrecks the living planet. This class redirects our rage at scapegoats. To resist its lies is to resist its power.

BOOM! South Australia's power prices have plummeted as they near 100% renewables, proving to the world that relying on wind and solar with battery back-up is possible, more reliable and costs people less. THIS is how we avoid the next oil crisis. #EnergyRevolution

If there was any doubt that Australia must urgently decouple from the US and its violent global war-making, coercion and domination then surely it is now. End AUKUS, close US bases and chart Australia’s path in the world, not follow Washington’s.

It’s Easter and the US President chose to share this, an unhinged and expletive ridden rant threatening war crimes against the Iranian people. Australians want no part in this and they expect our government to clearly oppose it and organise to prevent it.

The biggest story in the world right now is that the president of the United States is a demented old man who takes pleasure in torturing and killing people and is committing crimes with impunity. And yet most legacy media outlets are too cowardly to tell it like it is.

Some perspective: The S&P opened down -1.3% on Trump's Greenland saber-rattling. That's $750 billion of wealth destroyed -- roughly equal to estimates of the value of Greenland. And so ~in dollar terms~ his shenanigans have already cost the US one Greenland, and we've got nothing to show for it.

When the American empire finally collapses, historians won't be stunned by the greed of the elite; They'll be stunned by the loyalty of the poor.

The working class didn't just vote against their own interests. They worshipped the billionaires robbing them.

They slashed their own benefits, gutted their own healthcare, and cheered while the rich wrote off private jets as tax deductions.

Not because it helped them.
But because they were told it would hurt someone else.

And that, right there, is how you rig a democracy without ever breaking a single law.

The Left Bible Zack Polanski nails the reality: the gap between a millionaire and a billionaire isn’t “a bit more money” - it’s a completely different universe. This is why taxing extreme wealth matters. 👏

“Migration is really important for this country. People are worried about the lack of council homes, the difficulty of getting NHS appointments and the sense that the country is broken. They’re right to feel all of those things but those are not the problems of migrants – they are the problems of multimillionaires and billionaires, and politicians who have refused to tax them and invest in their community.”

Medicare for All would save $450B a year. Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity. Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall. It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford. It’s about priorities.
