You need to know the racial laws of so many irredentist states to even understand what people are talking about on X

Stupid and immoral at the best of times but hilariously silly when discussing a website cooking up more and more obscure forms of racism that i only read about in antebellum legal texts.

If you praise the Confederacy, everyone knows what you're doing. If you praise Rhodesia, though, you still get that little frisson of naughtiness, the little tingle of rebelliousness that can power you through the drudgery of your eight-hour shift at your dad's car dealership.

I reanalyzed the CDC data behind the LGB “free fall” headline. It rests on a change in bisexual identification among one grade, in one wave, of one survey. Gay or lesbian identification did not change significantly. Calling it a "free fall" is sensational and just gives bad actors talking points.
Six small line charts showing the percent of U.S. high school students choosing each sexual identity response option by grade (9th to 12th), 2015 to 2025, with 95% confidence intervals. Heterosexual falls from about 85 to 90 percent before 2021 to about 73 percent in 2021 and 2023, then rises to about 78 to 80 percent in 2025. Gay or lesbian stays between about 2 and 5 percent throughout. Bisexual rises to about 12 percent in 2021 in every grade, then among 9th graders falls to about 7 percent in 2025, its 2019 level, while other grades stay near 10 percent. “Some other way,” added in 2021, falls from about 4 percent to about 2.5 percent. “Not sure” stays near 3 to 5 percent. A dotted line marks 2021, when CDC changed the response options.

Another way of saying this is there was no productivity gains, introducing LLMs just changed the "recipe" for producing code of the expected quality.

I am very glad this is happening but it's illustrative of what pre-planning would have done. This should have been a day one initiative. I will also note that many people defended Mamdani's earlier position even against the argument they could have funded ringfenced gender affirming care- like this

People often say this but it somewhat elides the point. You must have a strong reason to think actual prices will converge to their prices of production for many of the theoretical claims in Capital to be valid. Among other things, without a convergence proof the concept of "exchange value" dissolves
