Health targets. My #cartoon today #Health #NZpol
Cartoon. Title: “Health Targets” Simeon Brown pushing a patient in a wheelchair, in an Emergency Department. He’s wheeling her towards a cupboard that is stuffed full of people, and saying, “Technically, this isn’t the ED. Our targets are working!”

"Wannabe"? This is what Paul the Other One calls "framing" (no relation) and this is utterly shit framing from the Herald. They wouldn't call an aspiring Nat or ACT candidate "wannabe", would they? Why could that be?

We do not have a serious economy in this country, we have an ongoing series of expensive brazen insults to all the hard-working people who *actually make things* despite the incompetent whims of mediocre upfailing assclowns like this guy. No greater lie than the meritocracy.

If you really want to get "more people off welfare and into work", consider not tanking the economy. That typically works better than performative cruelty.
The party also promised:
to provide "intensive, work-focused support" for 30,000 jobseekers who have been on Jobseeker for more than a year, with more funding for employment programmes that support young people into work.
lowering the rate of payment for those who had been on the benefit for two of the previous three years, from 1 April 2028. There would be a smaller reduction for households with dependent children.
those who repeatedly leave employment without good and sufficient reason would face a 26-week non-entitlement period, up from 13 weeks.
from 1 April 2028, the minimum residence period to qualify for main benefits will increase from two years to five years.
Upston said the party was focused on "getting more people off welfare and into work".

The thing with this kerfuffle about certain audience members' reactions leads a perception or claims of these people being "plants/actors/influencers". I don't really care! It feels like it further undermines media credibility. Mainstream media is slipping into the dark realms of Social Media.
