Haven't done an animation in a while. Lucky for me @amsikking.bsky.social came up with a "Dual-Grind" snouty light sheet objective - amsikking.github.io/idv-snouty_l.... I happily present a look into their manufacture.

PAPER ALERT! This week marks the end of a journey that began with an empty lab and a crazy idea during the pandemic, and ended with a microscope that allows 5 hours of brain imaging in a living fly. I hope you enjoy it reading as much as I enjoyed working on it! doi.org/10.1021/acsp... #Snouty

I try to be a peer reviewer who reviews the paper presented, not the imaginary one it could be with many years of work. Sometimes work, even from labs I respect, doesn't meet the standard. Today I re-reviewed a paper & was impressed at how the authors did the work to solidify their claims. Kudos 1/n

This is insane. 13 years ago we bought a million dollar #microscope to do this type of super-resolution imaging. Today, all you need is a smartphone and a few hundred bucks of off-the-shelf components 🤯 www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Our manuscript on accelerating the acquisition rate in oblique plane microscopy (OPM) is online now: opg.optica.org/boe/fulltext... Our work addresses the issue that an OPM PSF is tilted, and as such it leaves a lot of "empty space" in Fourier space (FFT of experimental data on the right)... 1/n

We used a Single Objective Light-Sheet (#Snouty, for the friends). It is less invasive than a lattice light sheet because it requires a smaller dissection area on the head´s cuticula, as it is only necessary to accommodate the light cone of a single objective. And it is simpler. 2/6
