DrLachie @drlachie.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Made myself a pour-over coffee this morning to take to work. Put it in the thermos my son often uses for his school lunches. Now I'm a fan of interesting coffee but I don't think the "notes of butter chicken" was entierly the intention of the roaster. 030
DrLachie @drlachie.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Ok so this is ongoing huh? I can't help but think we should have seen some greyscale raw data by now.... 0101
DrLachie @drlachie.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Heading back to the real world today, and back at work tomorrow. I apologise in advance to anyone who needs my full attention, my brain will be here for a day or two more. 020
DrLachie @drlachie.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Sure I could ask AI to indentify this bird, but my kids have decided it's called the "cheese face bird" and who am I to disagree? 2100
DrLachie @drlachie.bsky.social · 23/09/2026It's a little damp and cooler than previous years, but still - it's a great place to wake up. 031

DrLachie @drlachie.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Week 1 of going (back) to the driving range: "Oh I vaguely remember this" Week 2: "Oh it's starting to come back" Week 3: "Hey, I'm getting pretty good" Week 4: "Which end of golf stick for holding and which end for hitting?" 001
DrLachie @drlachie.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Why is it always on the days where I have so much stuff to do that the network goes down? This will make next week significantly more stressful than I would like before I go on holiday. 010
DrLachie @drlachie.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Had a sleep study done. I think it's a serious fulfilling prophecy. "Wow, you sleep terribly*" *When you're connected to the wall by a hundred wires connected to your face. 010
DrLachie @drlachie.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Had a seminar from a scientific recruiter yesterday. Really interesting to see how the world outside academia functions and the ways in and out of it. I'm not sure I'm down with posting daily on linkedIn though. 110
DrLachie @drlachie.bsky.social · 13/09/2026I like that my local driving range has ball tracking, I particularly enjoy the "ego boost" button (or "convert" as they call it which translates to "yes you hit 170, but if you were using quality golf balls it would have flown over 200!" still all over the shop though) 001

DrLachie @drlachie.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Reading a paper that involves a 2048-dimensional latent space. How do you even start to think about these? It's actually quite simple, just think about an N dimensional space, and set N to 2048. 040
