Students made their first minicomics in my intro making course - mostly standard format but this student, a first time maker(!), did something so off the charts I’m still reeling from it! & he made like 12 of them for his classmates! A paper engineering feat of flipbookery as well as killer drawing!

Also some ppl are apparently claiming these data show kids “going cis/straight” which, while not SURPRISING, still makes my little sociologist stomach ache. These are not longitudinal data! They are cohort snapshots! They tell you NOTHING about individual trajectories of gender or sexual identity!!!

Still need to read up on the actual research behind that WP headline, but just for starters from @juliaserano.bsky.social: The underlying data come from YRBS, a CDC survey administered to adolescents in the same schools that have largely gone all in on targeting queer & trans kids for the fascists

It’s striking that, while Andor has its share of action setpieces, you never really hear fans talk about them when they’re gushing about the show. If you ask someone their favorite scene, 9/10 times it’s a monologue or a two-character conversation.

Fun fact: Tesla went with a giant touchscreen instead of knobs for the Model 3 purely to save time and money. Knobs would have required spinning up a whole supply chain. The company spun it as a luxury feature and much of the industry followed suit. But it was always an inferior substitute.
