Clean air in schools reduces infections for the WHOLE POPULATION. Why WOULDN’T we clean the air? The healthcare/missed work costs far exceed the infrastructure costs, don’t let them get away with “it costs too much”. Demand clean air in schools and workplaces!

Fun fact: Tesla went with a giant touchscreen instead of knobs for the Model 3 purely to save time and money. Knobs would have required spinning up a whole supply chain. The company spun it as a luxury feature and much of the industry followed suit. But it was always an inferior substitute.

Netflix was like "here's a new show set on the New England coast", so .... sure? It's called Best Medicine, but it's actually just a straight lift of Doc Martin. It's filmed in NY, not ME. And every single towns-person is a chatterer. It's oddly compelling, but it ain't New England.

Sometimes my wife and I like to send each other text messages as though they’re democratic fundraising messages, and I believe she has produced the jewel of the form.
, it's
and I
have some personal news to share with you.
Being a mom is one of the greatest joys of my life, and I feel deeply that we should have salad tonight
This year has been challenging in many ways, and I have immense gratitude for the kindness and support of family, community, and people like you who have continued to stand by me through everything. It means the world, and I wanted you to be among the first to know that squash is in the oven and kale is in the fridge. As many of you are aware, ve been navigating one of the most challenging periods of my day while waiting for dinner.
Facing baseless federal hunger brought on by not eating since lunch, fighting for the working kids of this country, and now caring for a mean toddler and helping him grow up in a world that isn't always easy. But it has also reminded me exactly why I do this work and who I do it for.
I will never stop working to eat dinner. I will never stop fighting for what is right, even when there is also some feta in the fridge. And I will never stop being so very thankful that you are by my side in this important work and that there is tahini in the pantry for dressing
With love and gratitude,
stop to end

Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

Website comment reading: Oh NO, for years I have been sending holiday cards to my neighbors with a general season’s greeting and then ending it with “And I hope you have the 202X you deserve!” I thought it was, like, general good wishes without repeating all of the general holiday stuff.

I started sending the cards because my neighbors were kind of standoffish and to be honest things have not improved!! I was hoping several years of friendly cards would soften them but I didn’t know about the F you implication.

How do I recover from this????"

My latest cartoon for @newscientist.com
As we join the great theoretical scientist, he is deep in thought. So still, quiet and focused that he might almost be asleep. But inside that brilliant mind, what new idea is forming? What certainty is being meticulously interrogated? What ingenious theory is ready to change our world forever? (the scientist snores lightly) Ah, it seems he actually is asleep. And that's fine. Science is hard and not every day can be a success. We will come back another time.

Massachusetts friends! There are NINE (9) questions on the November ballot, some of which are confusing. Here's my local Dem committee's cheat sheet - we discussed the questions at length before voting on endorsements - and I'll put additional resources in the comments.
Know your ballot. Early voting: Oct 17. Election Day: Nov 3.
Melrose Democrats endorse these questions on all nine statewide questions.
Q1, Public records: governor and legislature - YES
Q2, Public defenders may bargain collectively - YES
Q3, Top two primary - NO
Q4, Election Day registration - YES
Q5, State tax revenue cap - NO
Q6, Nature for All fund - NO
Q7, Smaller minimum lot sizes (housing) - YES
Q8, Recriminalize marijuana - NO
Q9, Repeal gun safety law. YES keeps it. - YES

Q9 is worded backwards on purpose. YES keeps the gun safety law. NO repeals it.
