This is the most remarkable story Ray Bradbury ever shared with me. He told it to me late one night, sitting in his den of antiquities and mementos. Take five minutes to read this. It’s pure magic. #Writing #Living #Creativity #RayBradbury #BookSky

Mini of the month - Tanks for the memories Entry 9 by @cephyran.bsky.social 'Laserblade' #Nerdlings #MiniOfTheMonth

A scratch-built Baneblade made from crafting wood, other wood, cardstock, receipt cores, foamcore, pressboard, and white glue. It sports a desert yellow and brown camo job done in abstract geometric stripes. Main barrel, sponson guns and upper sponson turrets are all laser weapons. Forward hull gun is a light autocannon. From the hatches on the turret can be seen an officer with a laspistol raised and a pintle gunner operating a twin bolter. While a scattering of pieces are recognizably 40k product, none of them came from an actual baneblade kit; they are dregs of Razorback and Leman Russ kits.

We’re going to get human rights for chatbots before we get decent human rights for women, trans people, people of colour and disabled people aren’t we? TechBros will pour millions into mental health support for the slop machines before they lift a finger for actual people.

I was talking to one of the local Parks and Gardens team yesterday who was saying just that: we spend so much time thinking we need to be the Saviour of Nature, when, generally speaking, Nature would do just fine if we stopped being massively exploitative.

PURSUIT (1982) Acrylic - 30” x 20” Occasionally it is fun to do an action-filled scene. This exciting book by Alan Dean Foster afforded the perfect opportunity. #art #booksky 🪐📚

In a frantic flight through the woods, a fierce ostrich-like bird bends its sinuous neck as it corners around a massive tree. With a powerful talon, it grips rock and seeks footing with its other leg raised. Mounted on its back gripping reins is a redheaded man in a vibrant blue coat. A serpent coils around his shoulder and down his extended arm. The serpent spreads kaleidoscopic wings and hisses in displeasure. A badger-like creature springs out of their path.

Well The Sheep Detectives was a delight that the whole family loved. Very funny, and a great mystery and very moving. Only let down by a Proclaimers song in the end credits (though the film makers probably didn’t know they were massive transphobes when they made the film. 8.5/10.
