Seeing this about some court case, out of context, is really a crazy metaphor/example.

The parallel for 2024’s inflation anger was IMO the 1946 midterm. Suddenly new bargaining power got enough people angry vs. those who got the new power. And Trump gave unqualified promises that he would return it to 2019. And in addition to not “fixing,“ he made it worse.

As with the Newsom mischaracterization debate, it matters what the truth in fact is and not to rely on falsehoods in some “directionally correct” way. There aren’t enough homes where people wish to live. Whatever the politics, giving false solutions is not how I want to morally operate.

When we were investigating our case in Alabama, some workers told us that ICE agents were moving into the new developments they were raiding. And that one of the other new homeowners called ICE on the guys who just built his house as they worked on other houses down the block. Vile shit.

I have a different take. While Meta is bad, in the end this wouldn’t be possible without non-KYC crypto (or bearer gift cards). Every non-KYC financial asset should be banned.

Are we doing "The ACA Sucks" Discourse again? I'm going to guess most people hating on it from the left have never received a hospital bill the size of book; I put the apple there for scale. That's the $1.3 million bill my kid incurred in his first ~94 days. Why does that make me respect the ACA?
A giant stack of papers, about 1/2 the size of an apple, on a counter.

Without the people to run it, the plan is to impound any money appropriated to this fund. Say appropriations passed in a “clean CR.” There’s no reason ACA subsidies can’t be impounded either under Vought logic. Either make them go nuclear or get them to unimpound and unlayoff everyone.

The headline appears quite misleading. His exact words were “In commenting on Obergefell, I am not suggesting that the decision in that case should be overruled.” That and the follow-on quote about Dobbs don’t actually deny that Alito wants to overrule Obergefell.

There should be a law against assets that are digital bearer token based. The biggest of these is crypto, which has bankrupted banks through scams. But digital gift cards are also cumulatively big. At least they should have low limits per card.

Putting this in terms of “experts said” is simply the 1984 quote: “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” The 14th says what it says. O’Donnell was born on US soil under US jurisdiction. That’s it. End of story.

Kidnapping for ransom has long been a thin, but digital bearer assets really appear to supercharge it. Same with scams. Before crypto only had relatively small amounts transferred without a KYCed chain, through gift cards. Now the amount of electronic transfers outside KYC is essentially unlimited.

Before the Law
by Franz Kafka
Translation by Ian Johnston

Before the law sits a gatekeeper. To this gatekeeper comes a man from the country who asks to gain entry into the law. But the gatekeeper says that he cannot grant him entry at the moment. The man thinks about it and then asks if he will be allowed to come in later on. “It is possible,” says the gatekeeper, “but not now.”

“Child support” significantly hides the ball here. National Directory of New Hires has income and tax information on EVERY person, child or without, with a W-2 in any of the 50 states. Elon has in mind that a lot of people earn $200k but collect SNAP or Medicaid.

I don’t know if it will matter, but Bondi should be disbarred if USMS are ordered to enforce court orders. If USMS won’t enforce writs of garnishment or attachment for lawlessness today, then same will go for habeas.

Matt Waters @mwwaters.bsky.social · 10/02/2025
This isn’t incorrect, but its logic would preclude courts enforcing orders against *any* executive employee. Bureau of Prisons is also part of the Executive branch. So what are habeas orders going to do? How would money judgment for US gov contract or tort be enforced? @gtconway.bsky.social

Besides lawlessness being bad, an accurate polling should ask whether they support deporting law-abiding immigrants, stripping citizenship and voting rights of native-born Americans, possibly firing a third of FBI, pardoning cop assaulters and defunding research of cancer.

I’m thinking about how PCE weighting by consumption changes real wages vs child-rearing capacity. PCE inflation consistently has housing/health care above average and everything else below. The former increases more with children than the latter.

Lump of Labor or Broken Window Fallacy. Most obviously, immigrants themselves buy stuff with their wages. But even if they kept all their wages in a bank, the effect on demand on American made goods would be offset by the Fed with lower rates. At 0%, we can do fiscal policy until demand recovers.
