It would be nice if we had a party in power that wasn’t constantly indulging in exactly the same “disabled people cost too much” rhetoric and policy as in nazi Germany - and that’s not an exaggeration

Important to understand: basically nobody thought Boris Johnson would be a good Prime Minister, except for him and possibly - but not definitely - his wife. He was a flunky, a rubber johnny that this country’s political/media class used to fuck everybody, then they discarded him and emerged clean.

Anything short of total and vocal condemnation of these far right thugs, and none of this bs about "understanding legitimate concerns" from Labour can at this stage only be seen as a tacit acceptance of their actions, which is exactly how the far right sees it and which ultimately emboldens them.

Not a dicky bird about thugs trying to sink a dinghy with a rescue worker on board or their claims to be "forming an army". Two boats of people seeking safety land and bingo bango they're the ones portrayed as the issue. Labour is complict in the rise of the far right. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I’m thinking we should reclaim the word “patriot”. Fascist thugs aren’t patriots: they’re fascist thugs. They don’t love their country, they love bullying, intimidation and violence. I love this country, and I want it to be better: I want greater equality, tolerance, respect and an end to poverty.

I’ve read that telegraph article on disability, and I think the author’s real view, under all the other justifications they throw in there, can be neatly summed up by this final paragraph - disabled people are too visible now and some even look happy at times
“If there is a sickness identity, there needs to be a recovery identity - not just one that exists to sell people more products. A chronically "sick" person does what a chronically sick person is supposed to do: they withdraw from regular life, struggle with previously simple tasks, receive support and condolences, and rarely, if ever, get better.”
