Four black and white panels of a boy and girl sitting on steps.
1st panel: Charlie Brown is approaching and the boy says:
"Well! Here comes ol' Charlie Brown!"
2nd panel: As Charlie Brown passes, he says "Good ol' Charlie Brown...yes, sir!"
3rd panel: "Good ol' Charlie Brown..."

UAE officials have warned the UK that a severe punishment for Man City could hurt future Emirati investment in Britain, Bloomberg reports. This is the perfect argument for keeping foreign money out of football.

People don't like Amol Rajan, do they? He's certainly a bit smooth, but I don't have a strong view (gave up on Today Prog before he started, never read the Independent, would have taken anyone after Paxman on UC). However, I'll soon be catching up on the new Traitors, so maybe that'll change...

Before people learned music with 'do re mi', the sequence once began with 'ut' as the lowest note. The absolute lowest note recognised in medieval music was 'Γ ut', with the Greek letter gamma, and 'Γ ut' came to refer to the full range of possible notes. This is behind the phrase 'run the gamut'.

I vividly recall first hearing Venom at my mate Matthew's house. He'd taken a punt on At War With Satan, based on a Kerrang! review (tbh we were bored of the usual teenage metalhead fare). We'd never heard anything like it. So heavy... so scary... but also, three lads having so much FUN.

World Championships men's road race on right now. Pity it's not the most interesting route (pretty flat round Montreal, so they're doing loads of loops of suburban hills to add a bit of height) but plenty of big names and 280km of slog. (Women's race was yesterday, still on iPlayer, I think)

Not surprised by this. I mean, it feels unfair that football is treated differently, but I'm not fussed. Stadium beer is generally awful & overpriced, and part of the fun of football trips is finding good pubs. Also, it's disruptive enough with people popping down for a tea/burger/wee mid-match.

will say it again: the most effective way to curb far right agitators like Lowe, "Tommo" et. al. would be to stop their ability to earn money for it from social media or live streaming. So much of it is grifting for revenue, not attention.
