The deterrent effect of putting a bunch of people in prison was lost when we failed to do it after Jan 6th and then let them back in to power. The entire party is fully radicalized now. There are effectively no "moderates" left to take it over after a big shock to the system.

One thing I think people are failing to appreciate is that if we do what needs to be done RE the Trump admin and ICE, you can't just stop there. You imprison all of those people and you have to make sure they're never coming back out again.
