whatever your evaluation of kotek's tenure, i hope it's objectively clear to anyone reading my dumb posts it'd be such a colossal unmitigated disaster to have drazan laying out the welcome mat for Trump's agenda and spending an entire four years vetoing anything remotely good the legislature passes

This is Nazi rhetoric, full stop. It's not only a call to instigate a race war in the United States, but it's reminiscent of historic European justifications used to incite pogroms against Jews. People who say things like this are incredibly dangerous, as there is nothing they won't eventually do.

If care about free markets, you not only get more from center-left Dems than the party of Trump, you get more *from professed democratic socialists* like Mamdani than you do from the party of Trump. Those who deny this only think of it as an anti-left cultural totem and not a real policy agenda.

The death penalty is a moral abomination. State-sanctioned barbarism pushed by incompetent morons and sanctioned by the Supreme Court. Absolute ghoul shit. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...
The lone woman on Tennessee's death row was still alive after she was administered two lethal injections, her lawyer said in a motion seeking to halt her execution Wednesday night, a stunning development after the Supreme Court had stepped in to allow the state to put her to death.
At 8:26 p.m. local time, witnesses said
"executioners had injected both syringes of lethal injection chemicals and Pike is still alive and snoring," her lawyers said in a federal court filing.
They said Pike "has not lost consciousness and still has a heartbeat," and that curtains to the death chamber "have gone down twice."

The GOP cut funding to the IRS because *audits work* and they fundamentally don't believe rich people should have to play by the rules.
Line chart titled "Revenue per audit," subtitled "In-person audits, 2010-2014." It plots average revenue and average cost per audit by taxpayer income percentile, poorer to richer, from the 0–5th percentile to the top 0.1%. Source: Boning et al. 2023, "A Welfare Analysis of Tax Audits Across the Income Distribution."

Across the bottom half of the income distribution, revenue and cost track closely, both around $3,000–$6,000 per audit. Above the median, revenue pulls ahead of cost: about $10,000 vs. $5,000 near the 90th percentile, and about $17,000 vs. $8,000 at the 95th–99th. At the top, revenue jumps to about $31,000 for the 99–99.9th percentile and about $90,000 for the top 0.1%.

Bankruptcy means the entire building gets evictions, so no, that would not be preferable. Also means the affordability restrictions (usually 60-99 years in Portland metro) disappear forever. Underwriting & rent setting is a type of predicting the future. Bldgs underwritten at 60% AMI in 2019 did not

Madison Moskowitz @moskwtz.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
Statute says landlord can evict in 24 hours but that requires a judge be available next day to hear the case. MultCo has 1 to 1.5 judges on eviction docket, it takes weeks to get cases heard, leaving folks in harms way when a dangerous neighbor can’t be held accountable. Sucks for everyone.
130
Madison Moskowitz @moskwtz.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
That lies w Oregon’s involuntary commitment standard, which is very high, perhaps too high, + then lack of treatment beds & step down care. & lack of judicial capacity in eviction court in MultCo specifically slows the process of legally removing ppl who are threats to others in the community.

Competition w market rate homes isn’t in & of itself a bad thing. Regulated affordable homes have high bureaucratically induced barriers to entry (needs regulatory reform) and are not nimble to market shifts (can’t change rents from 60 to 40% w/o significant external investment)
120
Madison Moskowitz @moskwtz.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
It’s not the case that 30% AMI homes w/o services certainly means crime & nonpayment. More challenges, yes, and services help. But that’s an indictment of our fraying social safety net- not of making those homes designated or deed-restricted affordable.

The combo of state, federal, local paperwork required by tenants is mindboggling. 100+ page apps and weeks of back n forth for a basic lease. Why do that when you can pay the same for a nonregulated home w a 1 page app It’s a paperwork tax that becomes a barrier to housing for families in need
