My illustration of Devilman Crybaby. Akira/Devilman breaking powerfully through a thick cloak of smoke, his devil wings spread out and his clawed hands palms-up as he is met with Ryo/Satan gently descending toward him with their eight angel wings and intimately cupping his face in one hand. Oh hi. It's my birthday 🙂 I have to say that diving into acrylic painting and book illustration over these last few years has been incredibly rewarding, and I enjoy learning more, painting more, and getting older really is quite great!

It represents an haunt scene, the hunter is mounting a big white tiger with piercing white eyes -sign that she's blind- which is roaring as she's sprinting through the action. The hunter has heavy clothing on, inspired by the Mongolian and Slavic clothing. He has long black hair moved by the wind, and he's holding a sword in his hand, ready to defend his wood. The environment is a snowy wood, old trees and branches all around the scene, as the white snow covers them. The sun is setting, and the overall atmosphere looks pinkish, lightened by the lights of the time of the day. Pink, yellow and blue shading on the sky, as the clouds move, forming interesting shapes.

SPIDER - 2026 My piece for @paulscottcanavan.com 's excellent Mastering Imaginative Realism course. it's the hardest I've ever worked on a single image and has been a total goldmine for technique, research and workflow. sorry if you don't like spiders, I found painting this very healing.
