Bejewelled Duo Double for #Stunday and #ClassicMono Taken 15 minutes ago. Couldn't decide between colour and monochrome so have a BOGOF (buy one, get one free) #EastCoastKin #ECK #photography #asters #macro #macrophotography #monochrome #BloomSky #bloomscrolling (iPhone camera)
A pair of white asters covered in raindrops fill the frame. The background is dark grey. Not the trusty shoebox lid this time but the foliage was dense and dark behind. The top flower has a golden centre which is held in one large raindrop like a snow globe. The white petals a long and thin. Only the top half of the lower flower is visible and interconnects with the higher one a bit like interlocking cogs.Same photograph as the first but used a monochrome filter instead. The contrast of the white petals against the now black background, draws the eye now there are no golden centres.

Rainbow Energy for #ForestFriday and #Scape Taken ten minutes ago! #EastCoastKin #ECK #photography #rainbow #autumn #landscape #trees (iPhone camera)
Photograph taken this evening after a heavy downpour. I dashed outside in sock clad feet to capture this...very soggy feet now! Never seen a rainbow this vivid here before. The photograph really doesn't capture the depth of colour of it...likely the sky (colour of uninspiring undercoat) dulling it down. Am stretching the term 'forest' a bit, but it's a lovely clump of trees.

Image shows a double rainbow curving over from bottom right to top left against a warm grey sky. Below the rainbow are a variety of trees in autumnal colours.

Guess what??? Another woodsy scene😊 This red dirt trail was very inviting amid the changing leaves and filtered sun. A slim trail leading deeper into the forest but no moving ahead without a wee break to notice the sun reflecting off the tall evergreen at the trail head, its moss all but glowing in the morning light. Accepting foliage embracing their change dance softly in the mild warmth covering the trail in places like natures faerie lights. Beyond the beam, old growth forest beckons beneath a neutral sky

Detail of the Lovell Telescope, currently the third largest, steerable dish radio telescope in the world. It is 76.2 metres in diameter. Photo: Jodrell Bank Observatory, Cheshire, August 2012 📡 #AlphabetChallenge #Machinery #WeekMForMachinery #Science #Astronomy #JodrellBank #ECK #EastCoastKin
Portrait-oriented, 2:3 image.

The curved back (or underside) of a radio telescope dish. It is constructed from a series of curved and straight steel beams.

The telescope is designed so that the dish can be rotated and tilted according to need. The gears and superstructure to enable this are not seen in the photo.

The section shown here extends out from the right hand side of the frame. The outer curve of the structure is on the left hand side of the frame.

The background is grey sky with some light shining through the blanket of cloud.

Rivets and Horsepower for #AlphabetChallenge theme of #WeekMforMachinery Love the theme this week - am a bit of a machinery nerd! #EastCoastKin #ECK #ClassicMono #photography #HMSCaroline #Belfast #machinery #turbines #warship (Android phone camera)
Photograph taken in the engine room of HMS Caroline in Belfast, a cruiser that saw action in both WWI and WWII. Now a fantastic museum with so much to see. We each got to choose one thing each day to visit, and this was mine!

The image shows the steam-powered turbines in a low-ceiling hull of a battleship. Lots of metal, lots of rivets, lots of curves, beams and shadows. An image sadly too complicated to try to explain, particularly as the shapes merge into each other in the shadows. A monochrome filter has been used to focus on the form of the turbines which could reach 30 knots and produced 40,000 shaft horsepower.

If you're interested in more information, here's the nerd-tastic link:

Print Shop Hello! Here's a photograph of the printers shop at the wonderful Blist Hill museum, from 2019. Hope that you have a great day, whatever it brings ❤️ #AlphabetChallenge #WeekMforMachinery #museums @nationaltrust.org.uk More info in ALT
A colour photograph in landscape format. It shows the interior of a print shop in a museum at Ironbridge Gorge, Blist Hill. In the centre is the large manual print machine painted black with shiny wooden surfaces. Around the room are the different bits of paraphernalia you would need in this business. This set up is close to my heart, my father was a letterpress operator, 1950s - 2010s.

A work in progress crochet blanket. It's done in rice stitch, which looks like a fancy weave but it's actually super simple to do. The yarn is Caron blossom cupcakes in the color blooming good. It's mostly pastel green, but with bits of pastel purple, pink, and blue.
