The single good thing coming out of the Last Ditch discourse is more people agreeing that it is not praxis to automatically yield to the most marginalized person in the room when they are acting in bad faith, being deliberately cruel, or lashing out, whether this is the result of trauma or not.

Reminder that encouraging people that it is morally good to crawl inside historical trauma and build a nest there is a great way to manipulate them. Writers have called it "prosthetic trauma" and it's everywhere. 9/11 became enshrined in memory very quickly so it could be weaponized to justify war.

"Trans genocide" doesn't look like putting people in camps. It looks like preventable deaths of despair, hate crimes without consequences, preventable deaths due to lack of housing or medical care. A slow drip of things that look individual but aren't, and a lot of people living closeted and afraid.

I found it weird that this article doesn’t say what Galliano’s “past antisemitic and racist statements” are, especially at a time when a lot of not-antisemitic stuff is getting categorized that way, so I looked it up, and, uh, how did anyone ever think this exhibition was a good idea.

The final straw for Dior appears to have been the video, reportedly shot in La Perle in December, showing Galliano telling two women: "I love Hitler. People like you would be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers would all be fucking gassed."

Perks of working in a costume shop: being able to put your clothes in the dryer and grab an old mock-up off the rack to wear when you get soaked by rain walking between gigs. The three-job clusterfuck is messy right now, but at least I have good co-workers and a vending machine full of caffeine.
