A 5-year-old Texan just spent the first day of school in an ICE detention center. ICE kidnapped Liam Tadeo on his way to a soccer game with his dad. Liam should be in kindergarten. Instead, our government has thrown him in a prison camp hundreds of miles from home.

And we have a new all-time record warm *absolute* temperature for the oceans, according to ERA5 (which goes back to 1940): August 21st likely marked the warmest Sea Surface Temperatures have been for the entire Holocene period. Should be major news!

This is great. I also think this is a problem in some of the scholarship on "distributed agency" which disappears intention and responsibility by talking about assemblages as if they were randomly assembled constructs of vibrant energies and agencies of human & non-human. IYKYK

A plea to report the meaning of "latae sententiae." In Catholic Canon Law, this means that the act itself automatically excommunicates. To consecrate a bishop w/o papal approval is to go into schism. The Vatican response was to recognize that act. (As did JPII for Lefebvre in 1988)

Cryptocurrency replaces banks about as well as an LLM replaces the human brain. A struggling simulacra of a tiny subset of very complex systems. What is shocking is how easily modern societies can fall for these blatantly false claims. Our immune system against hallucinations was tested and failed.

What will happen to the 82 USFS experimental forests around the country? Many sites have decades-long experiments that are tracking how forests are changed by timber harvesting practices and climate change. As I say here, “you can't just pick up an experimental forest site and move it to SLC.”

to their perspective. The tools and measures that they use to understand and solve problems could almost have been purpose crafted to confirm their broad intellectual biases by concealing the problems that their methods can't easily solve.
