Last week, the National Congress of American Indians, along with The Wilderness Society, hosted a webinar examining the proposed Roadless Rule rescission and how it will affect tribes. The session helped its participants understand the proposed changes and make their voices heard. @wilderness.org

In British Columbia, the Kaska Nation wants to protect a wilderness area larger than Denali National Park and Preserve. The Kaska began their effort in 2019, and it’s taken seven years for the idea to build momentum. But securing protections like this isn’t always straightforward.

The Duwamish tribe has officially taken on the stewardship of land at Heron’s Nest. The 3.56-acre parcel sits on a mountain ridge less than a mile west of Seattle’s industrial district. It's been transformed from a hazardous waste zone to a greenhouse garden and community gathering space.
