And we have a new all-time record warm *absolute* temperature for the oceans, according to ERA5 (which goes back to 1940): August 21st likely marked the warmest Sea Surface Temperatures have been for the entire Holocene period. Should be major news!

According to a 2023 paper in Science, "El Niño persistently reduces country-level economic growth..." with $4.1 trillion and $5.7 trillion in global income losses attributed to the 1982–83 and 1997–98 El Niño events, respectively.

OK this one I find TRULY REMARKABLE. If you look at Year-to-date Fire Radiative Power in Canada (the heat energy given off by wildfires from beginning of year to present), the TOP 4 worst fire years in this data set are: 1) 2023 2) 2025 3) 2024 4) 2026 😯

Holy crap! "Since 2009, the per-capita incidence of Lyme disease has increased approximately 32-fold for all of Canada — with even higher increases in Nova Scotia — according to calculations by Canada’s National Observer using data from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC)."
