Although hundreds of viral transcriptional regulators (vTRs) have been identified, we know little about the host pathways they rewire to promote replication and persistence or their mechanisms of action. In our new paper, we addressed this gap across human viruses. 🧵 www.nature.com/articles/s41...

New work from the lab! We report that DDIAS is a downstream effector of CIP2A-TOPBP1 in mitosis that suppresses ssDNA to preserve genome integrity. From the great @yiboxue.bsky.social and many collaborators! Free link: authors.elsevier.com/a/1nfiF3vVUP... Pay link: www.cell.com/molecular-ce...

Our evil ORFeome paper is out! In collaboration with @alex-stark.bsky.social, we screened ~4,000 viral proteins and secreted effectors from bacteria and parasites, covering hundreds of diverse pathogens, for phenotypes in human cells.

Pathogens have spent millions of years learning how to hijack human cells. Now, researchers from the Stark lab at the IMP and the Taipale lab at the Donnelly Centre, University of Toronto, have built a platform to systematically discover how they do it:

Our new preprint is online! Viruses, bacteria and parasites use effector proteins to evade immunity and rewire host cell pathways. Together with @AlexanderStark8, we wondered if we could systematically map what these effectors, regardless of their origin, do in human cells. 1/8

We are still taking abstract submissions for the network biology CSHL meeting. Plenty of opportunities to present and discuss your research. It's an exciting time to think about what this community can achieve in the next few years.
