Brainstorm is a badass word and I don't know why anyone would want to let a machine do it for them. Writers: My brain is experiencing lightening and gail force winds about this idea. Can you taste the rain in the air? The bro: I'd rather press a button. Vibe check failed.

Laughing at the AI threat has become the only acceptable position at the cool kids table. After all, why be afraid of something that can’t count the R’s in “strawberry?” But in the age of Donald Trump , you shouldn’t need a reminder that stupid and dangerous often go together.

Being a union steward has changed my politics a lot, made me see how lefties and Democrats both don't spend enough time and energy valuing workers. I think we all tend to undervalue how work matters to people's self-esteem, not just pocketbook. If you want to reach working class voters, get that.

2030: My son spent all of supper at the dinner table on his phone. I asked my AI Chatbot to text him how his day was. His AI Chatbot responded with a summary. I am very pleased. Mostly because I bet on polymarket that his response would be great than 40 characters. My Betting AI made the bet.

I just finished reading Mary’s Monster, a biography of Mary Shelley written in verse and accompanied with illustrations. The focus is on her creation of Frankenstein and the events that lead up to it (particularly her marriage to Percy Bysshe Shelley). I thought it was great. #booksky

Yesterday was hot, but last night was a beautiful night to sit on the back deck and read. The two dots in the sky, above our dog, are Jupiter and Mars.
A backyard at night. A black miniature poodle stands on the deck looking towards the camera. There is a wood fence to the right with hanging potted flowers, next to a green lawn.

The biggest obstacle to capitalism is ultimately humanity's chief output: saying "no." The only problem generative AI solves is this one. It atrophies our ability to assess. It shifts thinking to acquiescence, which makes its users ideal consumers: malleable, and less likely to resist.

I sure do wonder how the tech/billionaire class thinks this will work out for them, when their chosen little boy crushes the whole world's economy and normies start hunting for people to blame. There's no marketing campaign that'll fix "allied with Trump."

AI is a symptom of our society's rejection of expertise. Not everyone can be a nuclear physicist. Its not their talent, its not their gift. Not everyone can be a writer but AI enthusiasts dont want to accept that. Ultimately they don't care about the art they just want the rhythm but no respect

I keep seeing "all authors use AI, the real issue is they're being forced to be sneaky about it" headlines. Full stop No. This is a lie peddled for normalization. It's schoolyard-level pressure tactics "C'mon, all the cool kids are already doing it. We won't tell. It's fine. We're on your side."

It’s so much more fun being a Jays fan than it is being a Leafs fan. Even when the Leafs were mostly winning it seemed like the players didn’t care enough and their fans were always angry. With the Jays, it’s like a revelation to realize I can cheer for a team and actually enjoy it.
