A bit of format tweaking. Nice the original music is back (there’s an episode from 1984 with a brassy abomination and a cruise gimmick). I like the league table, but Granada should receive a points deduction. Did Channel and TSW breach financial guidelines and get expulsion? They don’t feature.

Virgin Cola: as it’s not around anymore, has to be a ex-ITV franchisee, like TVS. I didn’t mind it, tasted alright, ambitious and showbizzy but also felt like a cheap copy of something else (like LWT).

Current theory: “Hello” by The Beloved is basically “John Kettley is a Weatherman” by Tribe of Toffs, with a little bit of politics yes indeed. And both are The Cheese Shop or Spam sketches set to music, as they all use a list format for laughs. I love the choice of cultural targets in both records.

Monica Coglan was cross-examined for 13 hours by Archer’s lawyers in the libel trial. She was frequently in tears as her entire life and character was attacked. She died in a car crash before Archer was found guilty of perjury in that trial. Before it was found she’d told the truth all along.
