They quoted me in this New Yorker piece about AI today. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...

“Let’s say there’s a world or time line I exist in where A.I. has been subject to regulation. It is ethical. It has no footprint environmentally,” the novelist Jeff VanderMeer, a prominent critic of A.I., told me over the phone. “With those guardrails in place, would I read an A.I. book? All I can say is no. And the reason is, in part, because I want to read something coming from a particular mind.” Using A.I., he said, “feels like a betrayal of the whole point of why you’re a writer.”

People are going to use this to make fun of him given how things went, but to me it's proof that there was something there with this player. I'm sorry, I'm never gonna let it go, this guy had real potential.

Someday, probably sooner than you'd think, we'll all be like "remember when Julius Randle used to play for the Timberwolves" "oh yeah, for like a season, right" "no it was actually two"

Convincing myself that Beringer and Kuminga hit their upside scenarios and this is the best starting 5 in the league in 2 years.

Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball on 2026 Media Day. Ant holding a basketball and thumb pointed at LaMelo. LaMelo pointing at the camera with arm slung over Ant's shoulder.

Joan Beringer on 2026 Media Day holding a basketball and stepping forward as if about to complete a chest pass.

Jonathan Kuminga on 2026 Media Day, standing up straight, looking at the camera with a basketball in both hands.

Jaden McDaniels on 2026 Media Day in a black jersey, arms crossed.

The idea of "living in a bubble" is an extremely strange and recent concept if you think about it. Before the internet, almost everyone lived in a bubble called "within 50 miles of where you were born" for their entire lives.

If I had a nickel for every time in the last year the Wolves traded a point guard to the Bulls who then got traded to the Hornets and then got released before playing a game for them, I would have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice

Reeve already held the WNBA record for most Coach of the Year awards with four, but now extends that record after leading the Lynx to a league-leading 33-11 record during the regular season. Reeve has now won Coach of the Year in 2011, 2016, 2020, 2024 and now 2026.

The good... The area of Joan Beringer's game that can help benefit the Timberwolves offense is his OREB prowess. Last season, per Cleaning the Glass, Beringer had an OREB on 15.8% of the Timberwolves' misses. That ranked in the 96th percentile and 7th among all Bigs.

This is what gets me about the Talarico apologia. This is a solved problem. We don't have to equivocate about this. We know it's bad faith to even bring it up. In addition to being morally wrong to sell out trans people, it's also a weak, losing strategy.

"Your brains stop developing at age 25" was a press misrepresentation of a study. They wanted to see if brains continued to develop after adolescence, so the study was capped at age 25. A later study with a wider subject pool showed that brains are ALWAYS developing our whole lives.
