Had a look at the old Argyll factory in Alexandria while in Scotland last week. In 1905 it - probably the first dedicated car factory in Europe - produced more cars than any other factory in Europe, but look at it now. No respect for our automotive heritage despite propping up many stately homes ☹️.

The Alpine marque was founded in 1955, with its A110 Berlinette arriving in 1963. The design was nearing the end of its life by the time of this 1976 Dutch brochure on the Berlinette 1300 and 1600SX. Renault took control of Alpine in 1973, hence its name also now appeared in marketing. #carbluesky

83 years ago, my grandad walked out of Italian POW Camp 53. It was the chaotic days after Italy surrendered: most of the Italian guards had left.The senior British officer told the men to stay put, threatening them with court martial if they left. 1000 of the men decided not to wait and walked out.

If the first Polestar 4 was called a Coupe (with 4 doors?) then I suppose calling this hatchback an SUV makes some sense to someone. Giving it a practical shape and a rear window will apparently make it a better seller (whaddya know)!

My latest Oxford Diecast additions to the collection. Also added a little peace and love to the proceedings.

Recent 1:76 scale model purchases from Oxford Diecast; Wolseley 6/80 in green (the nearest 6/80 to where I stay is a green one and it is a car that my dad almost bought in the 1970s) and a Commer Walk/Thru van in Pollock of Musselburgh livery (this was in a recent sale for £5 so I could not resist as it goes well with my other local livery 1:76 models.)

The Commer now at home on the Pollock of Musselburgh shelf, sandwiched by Smith of Maddiston and Russell of Bathgate.

The Wolseley 6/80 on a shelf of 1:87 and 1:76 scale cars of the US, Britain and France.

I moved a few other models around the display and put these two pink ‘hippie’ VWs in. The Beetle cabriolet is a US spec model by Vitesse in 1:43 scale and the Type 2 Kombi is by Lledo in 1:50.

Went to a church in North Ayrshire today for a flute and piano recital. A bit tense for everyone until the pianist accidentally hit the drum machine button on her electric piano midway through some Bach. The flautist (our friend) had a little dance and then continued as if nothing had happened.
