Pointless short-term solutions by another government who won’t actually tackle profiteering This sort of *support* doesn’t help anyone and definitely doesn’t solve the problem

The Green Party could have been part of this. If only they played the political game properly and not bothered to take a stand

Some people don’t understand the realities of a political party. It’s a vehicle designed to get into government, to change legislation to suit the ‘donors’ and make no difference to people at home or abroad. Maybe this is one of those points in time where political party purposes should change

This is so true. There is the unwritten rule that the media chooses who is allowed to govern. With the new Green Party leadership not obeying ‘the rules’ MSM has been scrambling around looking for things to discredit them with. Now they have something to get their teeth in to We’ve been here before

Pensions get presented as a problem: “One of greedy old folk taking money away from the hardworking young. But those young people will one day be old. Securing provision today makes it more likely they will have the same benefits in the future” www.opendemocracy.net/email/73f58a...

Scrapping pensions triple lock won't fund social care
Burnham’s plan to fund a care system by scrapping the triple lock is a bold political vision built on shaky economics

“Pensioners have the lowest poverty rate” Is 2.2m old people living below the poverty line an acceptable level? Is the increasing number of pensioners dying due to poverty (up 19% over the last 4 yrs) acceptable? Will pensioner poverty only be a problem if it’s higher than other groups?

What happened to “I can’t do anything as I’m sticking to the Manifesto”? Funny how they can do all the things that make people’s lives worse, even though they aren’t in the manifeso, but doing anything that would help “Sorry, impossible as it’s not in the manifesto”

Lib Dem throws a tantrum because some pensioners gained due to decent government policies in the 60/70s. He’s also not happy because there are only 2.2m pensioners in poverty and far more families. Does he want policies that make everyone’s life better? Nah, he wants to make more old people poor

How things change. The root cause of energy price hikes under Starmer (and the Tories) was the conflict in Ukraine. I have a feeling politicians aren’t being honest and looking at energy company profits, the root cause might be profiteering through conflict

The clappy emoji is currently being so over used by a lot of people who are - unaffected by current government actions - won’t be bothered that Burnham will do nothing but tinker around the edges for the next 3 yrs - be thoroughly disappointed when Burnham/Labour fail to follow through in 2029

People’s rights came through protest and direct action. Democratic rights Women’s rights Worker’s rights LGBTQ rights Equal rights While right-wing thugs freely roam the streets (or gather to intimidate) this government created to uphold those rights, is removing those rights bit by bit

There’s the equivalent of Starmer’s ‘good things’ list. Reposting with Alt and for debunking • There has been a coordinated scheme to tackle rough sleeping for years • Setting up No10 North, which isn’t in the North of the UK and doesn’t improve people’s lives • Devolving Power so the Mayor has
• Targeting Rough Sleeping: Launched a coordinated, national drive aimed at ending rough sleeping across the UK.
• Devolving Power: Announced a historic devolution deal allowing regional mayors to keep a direct portion of locally generated income tax.
• Setting up "Number 10 North": Established a secondary government headquarters to decentralise decision-making away from Whitehall and Westminster.
• Cutting Energy VAT: Reduced the VAT rate on domestic household electricity bills directly to 0%.
• Capping Public Transport: Enforced a f2 cap per journey on all bus travel across England, alongside completely free bus fares for children throughout August.
• Slashing Hospitality Business Rates: Offered an immediate 20% business rates cut to thousands of grassroots music venues, pubs, and clubs.
• Scrapping the Digital ID Scheme: Cancelled the planned national digital ID programme.

I see Duncan is back to defending Labour. (Transphobia forgotten) Corruption is normal and good even, because it’s happened for years and there is no difference between big corps buying access and Duncan finding himself in the same room as the PM (he doesn’t say if he swooned)
