It’s ridiculous that he has hosted more times than most prominent SNL alumni combined. It’ll also a sad indictment if he gets to the 5-timers club before Dana Carvey!

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed.

This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities.

Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery.

Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.

Abolish ICE.

Long post
Thoughts on the 10/7 protests against Zohran Mamdani
There is absolutely a need for Zohran to be protested on many issues. He has; in my opinion, straightforwardly failed on the NYPD. In his first year in office, he has kept on Tisch as his police chief, he has failed to disband the SRG, and has done nothing to curb blue power in NYC. On antizionism, he recently announced a plan to confront antisemitism that includes a commitment to donate money to the JCRC, an openly Zionist organization. There have not been any wide scale protests from the left on these issues, in part because NYC-DSA has mostly refused to publicly criticize Zohran during his tenure as mayor. That leads all criticism of him to the ultra-left, who are often actively counterproductive in their protests. Instead of specific criticisms of how Zohran has operated as mayor, we instead hear people calling him a Zionist genocidaire. It’s rhetoric that is completely incapable of appealing to the wider public, it paints all criticism of Zohran as absurd far-left whining. When we should be willing to point out Zohran’s failures and organizing to push him past some of his opportunist positions, we have instead totally abandoned this responsibility to the ultra-left, which will only work to increase the dissonance between Zohran’s mayorship and DSA. I hope that this event is a turning point for how DSA approaches protesting its own officials: the current status quo here is no longer tenable.
