This arrived awhile ago. Published in 1932 by Dion Fortune's order 'The Fraternity Of The Inner Light'. It’s a study of death and dying, time and manner of death, process and ritual of dying and communication with the dead, from the perspective of her unique blend of psychology and the esoteric.

ALFONS MUCHA AND THE NEW MYSTICISM BY CHRISTIAN BRINTON NOTHING is more characteristic of the modern spirit than its complete surrender to the claims of what is vaguely called idealism.
The ironic outburstsof Nietzsche, the fervid sensualism of d'Annunzio, the rhetoric of Rostand, and the eager soul-questioning of Maeterlinck, are all protests against the encroachments of science and the increas- ing materialism of contemporary exis-

Lithograph by Mucha from " Ilste, Princesse de Tripoli" (H. Piazza & Cie., Paris). Half tone plate engraved by H. Davidsontence. Criticism has forsaken the dogma of Taine and has become personal and capricious ; the novelist of to-day studies emotion, not character, and ingenious investigators such as Flammarion and Metchnikov beguile the rigor of astronomy or physiology with diverting speculation. The symphonic lava stream poured upon the world by Wagner has its parallel in the golden fantasy of Böcklin; and the solemn, sumptuous allure of Gustave Moreau finds echo across the Channel in the lofty spirituality of the late George Frederick Watts.
It is in France that the movement has been carried furthest, and where its logical outcome, the New Mysticism, finds firmest footing. of this reaction against analysis, this fresh awakening to beauty of sense and of soul, has enlisted the leading figures alike in letters and in art. Weary with fruitless inter- rogation, they take refuge in subdued yearning after simple faith, or caress the fancy

We spotted ‘The Undying Monster’ by Jessie Douglas Kerruish (1922). But let’s not forget what came before: ‘The Thing From The Lake’ by Eleanor M. Ingram. She died young (in her thirties) and her novel, lauded by Lovecraft, was published posthumously the year before: in 1921.

Death Star: How Our Own Sun Could Destroy Human Civilization
Despite popular misconceptions, the Sun is not a stable, unchanging, eternal, ball of fire in the sky. Indeed, from an astrophysical and geological perspective, the Sun is quite the opposite. Fueled by nuclear fusion reactions, it is unstable, continually seething and churning, in disequilibrium, discharging not only visible light, but also a large energy array across the electromagnetic spectrum, and belting out charged particles as well. While the Sun may have little hiccups from time to time, it can also […]

#Pollinators I found this wet carpenter bee (Xylocopa sp.) at dawn sleeping on the underside of a leaf. You may think what you do in your yard is insignificant, but it's the whole universe to many pollinators. Support the pollinators by planting more natives & using no landscape-wide poisons.
Photo of a large bee hanging on the underside of a leaf. The bee is mostly black with a yellow forehead, yellow hairs on its back and just behind its black wings. Its legs are hairy and small drops of water have collected on some of the leg hairs. Out-of-focus greenery is in the background.

Oh my god the dietician who is telling everyone in the White House to only eat steak and sauerkraut doesn't wipe his ass.
To O’Mara, the diet is not just a temporary means of losing weight but a way to eat for good. He has been doing it for 10 years, and credits it with turning his life around. At one point in our conversation he pulled up the Bristol Stool Chart, which ranges from Type 1 (“separate, hard pellets”) to Type 7 (“watery, no solid pieces”). O’Mara is consistently delivering Type 4 (“smooth, soft, like a snake”), with pointed ends, indicative of healthy rectal function, he told me. “When you start eating healthy, you don’t need toilet paper,” he claimed. “Animals in the wild have no residual stool on their anus.” He described a proper bowel movement to me this way: odorless, wipe-free, over in three to seven seconds and “nearly orgasmic.”

“I could have a bowel movement behind a sheet at a dinner party in the corner of the room,” he said, “and nobody would know.”
