When you’ve been waiting forever for the show to begin, but you’re with your buds so it’s okay
Several tiered boxes of grinning (fake, to be clear) skeletons looking like a packed arena but they enjoy hanging together so the lack of a floor show isn’t bugging them overmuch

Elizabeth: I am better than you because I am very smart and decent, and I can see you for what you really are, and I don’t think you can keep up with my wit and my verve or live up to my standards. Emma: I am better than you! 😊 Isn’t that neat?

Since it happened again, I made a meme. Honestly, though, never go in against Courtney Milan on any topic.
Vizzini meme, from the film The Princess Bride. Here he says, in the top caption:

You fell victim to one of the bluesky blunders!

And in the bottom caption:

The most famous is "never fall for it when Gail Simone trolls," but only slightly less well known is this: "Never go in against Courtney Milan when law is the topic!"

For your convenience, the Pride and Prejudice live-posting super-thread 📚
A drawing of Elizabeth Bennet, a lovely young woman with her long hair tied up nearly under a ribbon and wearing what is most likely a neo-classically inspired dress, looking pensive, two letters in her hand. Meanwhile Darcy, a handsome but stern-looking fellow, looks longingly at her. Also there is me, a little gremlin in big round glasses, skulking about in the background and hoping that they kiss.

The accompanying text reads “Trung reads Pride and Prejudice for the first time, somehow.”

Our statement in response to the Supreme Court ruling in Mahmoud v Taylor. Image thread with alt text. 1/4
Today's Supreme Court decision, though couched in the language of freedom and inclusivity, is a tragic failure for both the right to read and the rights of LGBTQIA+ people. Authors Against Book Bans stands firmly and fiercely against the decision and its rationale. To allow parents to "object" to the presence of positive books about the lives and rights of LGBTQIA+ people is to allow them to "object" to the existence of LGBTQIA+ students, parents, educators, and others in the wider community. You cannot “opt out” of reality, no matter what today’s majority opinion states. These books belong on shelves and these stories belong in classrooms and curricula.

President Trump's DOE has made themselves clear: they will support book banners in their efforts to strip our institutions of learning of the books that define them. So let us be perfectly clear: we're going to do whatever we can to try and stop them.
Today the DOE announced plans to dismiss 11 outstanding complaints against book bans, and to eliminate the position of Book Ban Coordinator at the Office of Civil Rights (OCR). This distortion of the intended work of the OCR--the protection of civil rights and students' freedoms in our nation's schools--is negligent, grossly un-American, and in direct conflict with freedom of speech, a bedrock right enshrined in the Constitution.

Authors Against Book Bans unequivocally stands against all such attempts at censorship and discrimination. We stand with families, students and educators across the country who exercise free speech every time they open a book, and with the 71% of Americans who are opposed to book bans. Book bans do not protect children; history teaches us that they are a terrifying step toward tyranny.
