Now, Mr. Lipson said, he is cautious about introducing his friend to strangers. This year, on an outing to nearby Monhegan Island, people recognized the chief justice as he walked by a brewery and started to chant: You should be ashamed.

Ugh. This is so dumb. It's clear that this inflation is not because of excessive money supply. This bout of inflation is clearly a result of massive changes in the global economy (closure of Hormuz, increasing costs of production inputs like diesel and electricity). Monetary theory can't fix this.

I'm as guilty of this as anyone else. There was a long period where the culture saw Dolly as a sort of Nashville Barbie Doll and wrote off her philanthropy and decency as a sign of some sort of feminine naivety. She deserved better.

I was walking to my office, and a guy on the library steps was belting out opera accompanied by a bluetooth speaker. He was really good. It was pleasant, not disruptive, and a refreshing change to the quiet repressed din of my town. Now security is talking to him and ruining everything.
